I've always been told I'd be unable to return any item I've got DTD on unless it's faulty. Seems fair enough to me. Otherwise you'd return them and end up £20 up on each one.
As an aside, does anyone think that going in to a 24hr store at 0005 and claiming a DTD on an item that has just had it's SEL go out of date 5 minutes ago would be acceptable?
same here i've been told can't return, I got DTd on 2 of the BT phones similar to those mentioned above and had a bit of a trouting over returning them..... a very long story........
in short basically got them while i was away, gave them to my parents who said these are naff try and change them pls.... so dutifully off i trot ....rang CS at HO chap says no problem even if overhcarged doesn't affect your right to refund if they are not the quality you expect even if its just over 28days take them back-but would be easier all round if you took them to original store.
Took ref number etc from him just in case.
So travelled back to original store (was on hols again) they saw the reciept and phone manager had a hissy fit, said wouldn't return them without the original overcharge refund receipt to see how much i got back-i hadn't brought this with me, on my original reciept it just said overcharge then a few numbers where they had calculated (60/120/240...work it out lol!)
Had a $hite day with 3 little ones and was close to tears so i told him to phone HO where they had no record of who I spoke to so i walked out.
Got to my friends house and rang CS myself, got to speak to original person I spoke to. He went off to ring the store then came back to agree I would have to show bank statements to confirm the overcharge amount and that i would only be entitled to a phone to the lower value (ie minus the overhcarge) Told he he was incomeptent for not advising me of this before and that i had just travelled x miles for nothing. He sent me a gift card for ahem a few quid to comepensate for petrol.
So anyway not deterred tried 2 othersstores the next day for a refund, 1st store left receipt and phones with CS and when got back 3 trouts discussing the figures on the calculation on the reciept and changed their minds about letting me exchange the phones hastily asking me to go back to original store. Second got the phones I wanted FIRST took them to Cs and asked her to do straight swap (oh my 4 year old accidentally scribbled out that blasted calculation on the reciept)
swapped both phones and refund £80 onto credit card.
Normally I would not even try to return something I got DTd on but my parents really hated those phones and they really needed new ones otherwise no way I would ever embarrass myself like that again.
Ps recent ongoing DTD complaint is with a night manager who refused DTD, would not recommend going for DTD after 10pm when CS closes at all, same night manager casued me agro when i bought 3 megablocks and refused DTD then saying he could give me a refund but after 10pm system can't give DTD (what a load of rubbish), had to go back the next day.
OOPS just realised that wasn't a short story at all!!!GRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED

Bless she would have had £14 back on gift cards, mums you got to love them, mine would not even have gone to CS :rotfl:I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

They've always tried that with me too! The thing to do next time is have them phone Head Office at the CS desk, just point out the policy on the board behind them and insist it should be DTD.
I recently had the same experience, accepted JTD at first, then went home and phoned HO who confirmed it should have been DTD.
Had HO phone the store while I was on the line and then went in to store later to get my DTD and apology!
Perseverance and a thick skin seems to be key, they will try all manner of excuses not to give you DTD.0 -
never walk away without your phone as long as you still have it and your receipt, as long as you have it phone customer service will back you if you dont not much they can do0

Afternoon everyone
Just back from Mr T in B*lf*st M@tr@ they have cut the yellow SEL underneath the jelly and the custard. So that's now fixed although they are scanning 3 for £1 but no-one knows
Did come across some Liverpool car tax holders for 10p in the RTC section.
