Just got free Doritos and dip :T (well 4p anyway!)
Noticed reduced sel underneath dips saying Doritos crisps or dips Any 2 for £2
It did not specify the crisps on the label at all apart from the word crisps
I grabbed a 250g bag and a dip and no offer kicked in, got charged £1.98 for each
Customer services tell me the offer is on the smaller size bag (didn't know they did one!)
I go back, and there are no other sizes, not even a sel for one
Manager comes over, looks confused, tells me it should be the size i already had and i then got DTD on the overcharge making it practically free

Got this in S*nbury and CS gave DTD without me saying a thing!

Edit: having just looked online, the offer seems to be dips only, but with the sel saying "and crisps" this should work well ;)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Savvy Shopper!
Lots of DTD's with the 50% off summer clothes. 2 items we picked up both scanned at label price but were definitely in the section with 50% off tops and shorts sign. Didnt get DTD though as forgot debit card so will go back later.

  • There's a glitch with the Finest meal deal. Probably a short-lived one with the BBE dates etc. Instead of being charged £10, we were charged £18.48 for the deal and got £16.96 back!! The problem was the Finest 2 British Roast Chicken, Lemon & Cracked Black Pastries at 280g and costing £3.29. They were in the meal deal part of the shelf and had “new” and “meal deal” printed on the top corner of the box, but were not recognised by the till as being part of the meal deal so we were charged full price for everything.

The pastries seem to have replaced a more expensive similar product within the meal deal. When we went back to look, the previous product that had been on the shelf was also chicken pastries but weighing around 450g and costing about £5.50. Mr T seems to be downgrading the weight/value of the meal deals.

Ok before I phone CS and give off stink, can someone confirm what DTD and/or refunds are for? 3 issues in 24 hours for me:

    1. Electrical item displayed on shelf with a £150 SEL but the boxed product had a £160 SEL. Charged £160 then told afterwards that the cheaper SEL refered to the display model and the dearer tag was for the boxed items. SELs identical in size, functions, description etc but the dearer item was a newer model apparently. Guy checked and they had 10+ of the old model in stock - oh wait, it was actually the new model! Even their systems were confusing the models. Was told they could sell me the display model but no discount (I didn't even ask) as they don't do that. That's bull as I was told in another store today plus I bought a display item before and was given 10% off which I didn't even ask for! End result was I got a refund today as I couldn't be bothered arguing again.

    2. Pair of kids swim shorts didn't discount at the till. Apparently it's only selected items yet nothing to state what was reduced and what wasn't, just signs saying Summer Sale, selected lines 50% off including swimwear etc. End result, my fault not theirs so no refund or DTD.

    3. Gardening item on shelf with SEL of 30p. SEL description perfectly matched so purchased a few of them. Items scanned at £1. SA cheked and the barcodes don't match even though there were no other items on the shelf to confuse them with. So it's my job to check the barcode of every item I purchase against the barcode on the SEL. Get out clause is that the label was missing and kids could have moved it etc etc.

Folks, where do I stand with all this? I got myself a cheaper TV online last night when I got home so couldn't be bothered with the hassle but that's 2 items today I've been overcharged on innocently (yes, totally innocently) yet the store is arguing that as long as the barcodes don't match it's not their problem even if the description matches perfectly. Talk about being enticed to buy an item at a cheaper price then being given the middle finger.

Caz I would go for it, I went to my local Tesco's they had on the end Isle Selected snacks and crisps 3 for 2 with a large Yellow SEL on each shelf, and of the items had a yellow 3 for 2 SEL on each under them, except on the bottom shelf Walkers Crinkles, on the next Isle end they had exactely the same again the 4 shelves all had a 3 for 2 sign saying selected snack and crisps.

Needless to say the walkers crinkles were not on offer and for the 9 mulitipack bags i got of the crinkles I was overcharged. CS refused to refund as there was no SEL under the product, but I stood my ground and after 2 managers came over and a few shoppers had gathered, I eventually got my crisps for 20p a multi pack, if the product is there in volume it is not our problem it is Tesco's.

I have been refused DTD by Head Office for the dinner services!
Part of the reply was "We therefore, believe that another customer has maliciously put a label on the shelf which has caused you to believe the dinner sets were £11 each." The SEL was the same product description and code! Where would a customer get such a thing?

That's scary. If they are going to pull DTD, they should just go ahead and pull it. Making stupid excuses is really not very seemly for a company.
