Do you mean the £10 card?
It all depends on whether you shop in the shops that offer the discounts. For some people, the 5% off at Amazon covers the £10 easily.
I found that I never used the card enough to justify the initial cost - many local shops were willing to give me the discount on production of any student ID card.0 -

Yeah the £10 one is the one I was refering to - Sorry, I should have made myself clearer!
Being in the Armed Forces, I get some discounts anyway and thus was reluctant to fork out for another card.
I don't have any other form of 'student' identification though, so might well bite the bullet!John

I just show my Bristol University card everywhere and most places take it (even away from Bristol). I've had my card accepted at most bowling alleys, cinemas, QS, Peacocks, Borders and Waterstones.

Thanks guys.
I don't know whether to go for the free one or the £10 job!
I guess by the time you pay for photos and stamps, it's probably worth forking out the £!).
I get Forces Discounts for things, which is why I was reticent to pay out for an extra discount card. But I guess that it would 'cover all bases' discount wise.
KT - What sort of memberships does that card offer discounts to?John

hmv give you a student card for their store if you show a uni id card, i just use my id card for most things (it`was free from uni i ust handed in a photo). there is a thread on nus cards v uni cards on here somewhere. why not get the free one till sep then change over if you think it's worth it.
here's the nus link http://www.nus.org.uk/en/NUS-Extra/Discounts/0 -

Thanks for that info.
So it looks like if you apply at the start of August you'd get 14 months-worth out of the first one.0
