OK just checked and I'm currently using 8.0 so I'm now downloading the new 8.5 many thanks guys

Are you sure there isn't some tiny print down the bottom of the email that says 'or continue with the free version?'. They always seem to do that to me, but I always find that link

Hi it's not an email it's a pop up that just appears in the middle of my screen everyday when I start the computer I have to click x to get rid of it but it pops back up now and then. I've uploaded the 8.5 now and hopefully that will sort it.0 -
At some point you may have clicked a link to upgrade from AVG Free to AVG Interenet Security. The standalone AVG anti-virus is free but the Internet Security package which includes anti-spyware and firewall must be bought.
Try uninstalling and then downloading a fresh copy of AVG Free V8.0
