Orange Monthly Contracts

Iv only got a month left of my contract and my phone has now broken got a sony erricson k850i and it wont turn on well does but when its ok the screen is just white and i cant use it or do anything. It just turned itself off yesterday as its done a few times and usually restarts however when it restarted it wouldnt let me do anything with it.
I phoned orange who said its not covered and that sony erricson wouldnt fix it as its out with the year iv had it now.
I was given an option to buy out my contract for £31.50 i dont know whether to do this as i want to leave orange had 2 many problems. Or wait finish my contract then go get a new one or even try phones for you who will buy you out your contract.
The reason im reluctant to leave orange just now and terminate my contract is they owe me around £50 in calls they have been charging me for that are not ment to be chaged for ie, magic numbers and im scared i wont get this money back. They wont allow me to use the money they have in credit to cancel my phone.

Any help is appreciated and sorry for the long comment

When did you purchase the phone?

All sony ericsson handsets come with a 2 year warranty covering manufacturing faults.

I'm not allowed to post links but if you go to the support section on the sony ericsson website, select the right model of phone there will be a link to warranty info.

I heard that Sony phones are covered by the 2 year warranty too and that you can take it to carphone warehouse to get it fixed for free?

Just need confirmation about the carphone warehouse repairing department.

This phone is know to have many problems with breaking . My gd's phone virtually fell to bits, certain buttons wouldn't work. She took it CPW to be repaired ,they had it for 2 months and even now it wont work properly.

The carphone warehouse will fix warranty faults on handsets for free, you may need proof of purchase though.

I had a K850i for a year and i can honestly say that I didn't have any issues with it so hopefully if you get this repaired it will work ok for the rest of its lifespan

Im going to phone up sony and send it away to get repaired. I know there are faults with the phone and i have sent a letter terminating my contract with orange also
