Thanks for the advice. I have registered a claim with the Criminal injuries compensation. They are hopeful from what I have told them that pending confirmation of the incident from the police he should be entitled to something. If they can help to cover the dental work they it will be a bonus.

Have you thought of going abroad for implants? My sister mentioned it to me as I need one. I'm going to look into it.0

Don't. It's not worth the risk. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

What happens if you get a problem? Implants are a medical intervention same as any other operation, and like any operation they don't have a 100% success rate Driving to see the clinic who treated you is far easier than catching a plane.0 -
Hi all,
Wonder if I may start this thread up again. I have received a second opinion quotation in respect of getting an implant for my tooth that never grew – currently a Maryland bridge. The quote is pretty expensive all in all but looks like I will be paying this amount whoever I choose to receive treatment from. They have offered me a 5% discount which only amounts to just over £200 – I have been offered 0%APR finance however. I have the money to pay in full and utilise the saving but my mum pointed out to me, what should happen if the dentist (god forbid) dies or the practise shuts down?
Is there anything I should be looking into from an insurance point of view as it’s a lot of money? Or should I play it safe and forget the £200-odd saving and pay monthly?? Any advice please?"He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money." Benjamin Franklin0 -

That's a good question, and it's worth asking the practice manager for an answer on it.
If you paid it on a credit card, I believe you would have some protection - but I'm not an expert on that.
So maybe pay in full on the C.C. but pay it off immediately? How to find a dentist.
