Problem with Ford Fiesta door lock
Comments

The drivers door is obviously the one that gets most use, I had a similar problem when i had an Escort, in the end i could open that with my house front door key. It's just wear and tear, a new lock is needed.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Original Ford keys are made of a brass, a softer material than the lock so the idea being that the key wears as opposed to the lock.
Unfortunately replacement keys (including those supplied by Ford dealers!) are made of steel and so wear the lock instead."Now to trolling as a concept. .... About a tenner, possibly 15, for a new lock kit from Ford. (that's for the ignition - the door & fuel cap ones are about the same)
The labour to build it up might be expensive though - but you you can do it yourself. No instructions provided but you can find them on the web
Edit: You'll need a pair of circlip pliers if you plan to build one up yourself!
Edit 2: Instructions here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/doorlockbld.htm
Our Ford dealer tried to convince us we needed a new ignition barrel, 3 keys, re-chipping and fitting £300.
After I went the other way I can see that reading the key cutting code is easy and Remoco built the lock from the code for £14 incl the part. So I did not even have to do that, although now I can see it's not difficult. But unless you know how is all works it seems quite a challengeNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

That sounds like the price if you don't have any keys as well. Presumably it would include all the door locks too?
If you have the keys, you build the lock up to match the existing key.
You don't need any re chipping - the immobiliser is separate from the ignition barrel and isn't affected.
Yes it's a bit fiddly, but if you like jigsaw puzzles ..."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

You will need to reprogram the remote. Instructions on how to do so are here.

NO!!! The both turn different ways for starters. Really the best option is to have the locks re-built by a reputable garage / locksmith. You should easily get change from £50 all in and will still only have 1 key for the whole car.0
