PLUSNET cancellation fees?!

Has anyone on here recently cancelled their plusnet service ?
I would be interested to know what they were charged. I have been with them 7 months and unfortunately have to move due to a relationship breakdown. I am moving into a flatshare where there is already internet so I cannot transfer the service. I was advised originally that I could cancel with 30 days notice and that if I left before 12 months I would be responsible for the router fee of 29.99, this I have no issue with.
However when I called today i was informed that to cancel the service now I would have to pay a total of 98 pounds including the router fee! That is almost DOUBLE what it would cost me to keep the service for an extra 5 months?!? (10pounds per month) I said I was never advised of these extra cancellation fees but was told that it's "in the small print". This is only 22pounds short of what the entire year would have cost me.
I can't just keep the service because I have to also cancel the phoneline in case someone else moves in.
Should I not have been informed of these charges originally when I signed up asking about the notice period etc?
When I used to work at NTL if we didnt make people aware of the terms we had to compensate people.
Thanks

did you get free activation or free migration? since a contract, you need to also add 5x monthly sub as well, just depends on the wording of the contract....0

If you signed up for a monthly contract, you will normally have to pay for the router and refund any connection charge that Plusnet paid on your behalf.
If you signed up for an annual contract then you will normally have to pay the above plus 5 months subs (to make up the year).
Unfortunately, it is all in the T&Cs that you agreed to when you signed up. If you pop over to the Plusnet community forum, you can ask James of Mand for a definative answer.
