Hi this year i am giving my mum a box of promises!
ie:
cut the grass
tidy the garden
hoover house from top to bottom etc (any other idea's welcome!!)
I know these don't sound very romatic !!lol :rotfl: but my mum does worry about getting these jobs done and hates to feel she is nagging anyone to do it!!
since dad died i do go round everyday and do bits and bobs, but at least she won't have to worry about these jobs!!!
I also got a free card from remind4u it arrived yesterday and it is gorgeous (thought it might be a bit tacky!!)
So all in all it will have cost nothing only my time!! :j0 -
I have 2 young daughters aged 4 and 2 and a OH who is useless when it comes to Mothers day (although getting better after lots of tears esp on my first MD) so I have given him instructions that he is to make cards with the girls(ingredients provided) and get them some small flowers to give to me i.e. daffs as I don't want them growing up and being conned into believing that they must buy expensive cards and presents for me. I look forward to the day that they are old enough to pamper me in their own special way which will cost nothing. The simple thngs are best!Have a fantastic day :happylove

Really pretty mother of pearl jewellery is ideal for your mum on mothering sunday. My mum loves her pieces and I shall be buying her the matching earrings to the pendant I bought her last year.
I bought my pieces from my local jewellers but you can check out the Ag Silver website for your nearist stockists.
https://www.agsilver.co.uk
Prices vary depending on the piece and I assume also the shop.
Highly recommended as it never fails to impress.0 -
Can you send me the memory jar links. I want to try and capture my nan's memories as her long term memory is still okay but short term is becoming more difficult. As she's had a stroke I may have to record her answers as she now cannot write but I want to ask her all these questions before it's too late.

wishingonastar wrote:my best present was last year from my dd, it was a small scrapbook, with a picture of her in every year, from the day she was born, 1st birthday, other triumphs like first day at school, etc. the scrapbook cost £1.99, (she left the price on the back, lol) but to me its priceless, she decorated the pages too, and wrote little notes, and my present this year is to update it, and she wrote in the front she'll update it for me every year on mothers day.
My sister and I were taking my Mum (and Auntie who has no kids) to Amsterdam for the weekend. Easyjet £50ish return - Hilton Amsterdam - Tesco Clubcard vouchers! Unfortunately my cousin decided to get married on Friday in Edinburgh and Mum and Auntie have been invited so the weekend is off. Mum will be back from Scotland on Sunday afternoon - and was really stuck for what to do. Now I think I will get my kids and my sister's kids together and make her a scrapbook - great idea - thank you!0 -

SnowyOwl wrote:Name of gift: From Maternity Worldwide, a Certificate of Sponsorship of a safe birth (ie save a mum's life)
Buy or make: buy
Total cost: £15.00 (minimum...share with a sibling if too much??)
Details: This charity will send a certificate direct to your mum in your name. The £15 is enough to ensure that a woman in a developing country will survive her pregnancy and survive giving birth. (And if the mother survives then more than likely the baby will too)
For details:

What a great idea...but why does the website for Maternity Worldwide have a link to speed dating on it?0 -
I'm hoping that we have no moralisers here.
I want to get a mother's day prezzie for the love of my life, who is; not my wife, is someone else's mother, and someone else's wife  .
Naughty I know, but it's all part of life's rich tapestry. I know I'm letting myself in for it - so, any ideas?
