Is this a phone scam?

Hi there. (Please move this post if it's in the wrong place.)

In the last week, I have received 3 text messages from a number I don't recognise. They say 'Wuu2 (what you up to???) I've checked all numbers I can think of.

I don't know whether to reply asking: 'who are you?' in case it's some sort of connection to a premium phone line.

Or am I being too cynical?

Can anyone offer any advice? Is there anyway I can check the number without phoning it?

Might be worth plugging the number into Google... sometimes comes up trumps! Good luck x

Why would you even WANT to reply? Just ignore them.

Yeah, I know, but I'm kinda concerned now I've had three.

I did find a reverse cell phone directory which says they have the info but, of course, you have to pay.

Looks like I will have to just ignore it.

A few months back I started getting texts like this from some young persons who had typed in a number wrong on their phone. One came from a young female asking if I was coming out tonite to see her, but when I replied that I would have to ask my wife first she got very upset and stroppy with me ;)

Needless to say they soon realised they had got the wrong number, although they were insistent for quite a while that it was ME who had the wrong number and they were dialing the correct one!:D
