Moral obligation?
Options
Firstly, hello.
Secondly, its seems that i've been very naive when its come to my mobile phone contract. I've been with vodafone since 2006 and have been paying around the £30 p/m for a contract that gives me 500mins and 100texts. I was wowed by the new fandango phones given to me so I kept the contract going when it came time to upgrade.
So, recently ive been texting loads and because i'm one of those people who never really looks at their bills, I didnt realise how much i was being charged. That was of course till yesterday when i decided to log on to vodafone for a nosey. £47 was my average bill and this was due to the tons of texts i have been sending lately.
Obviously seeing the bill I realised how cavalier and stupid i've been for not looking at my bill. So whilst beating myself up about it I decide to ring vodafone and ask them for perhaps an upgrade of sorts to help reduce my bill i.e unlimited texts etc. The guy tells me not to worry and that he will change it to 700 mins 250 texts and unlimited landline calls for no additional charge to my contract. Flabbergasted I ask why so generous. He tells me that since taking my contract in 2006 there have been 3 revisions to it. 3 revisions! 3 revisions! thanks for bloody telling me!!
I realise what a dimwit i've been for never really taking an interest but isn't there a moral obligation for companies to tell you if they have revised that type of contract and others are getting the same one cheaper? or is this just me being naive AGAIN!
Thirdly, thanks for listening.

I don't think there is a moral obligation, no.0

Why single out the mobile companies? I still have my 'Gold Standard' savings account that offered interest of 9.25%pa. It now offers 1%pa - and they didn't let me know. But it was up to me to keep checking, trust the family, noone else!0

In answer to your question - no there isn't.
You do need to keep an eye on things.0
