What was wrong with the suite? Is it a non-refundable deposit?0

you can if you have paid the full amount - you cant claim the rest if you didnt pay it at allNo Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

did you see martin lewis on gmtv in dec 2008 explaining about claiming under section 75 consumer act. he said if you only paid deposit on card still entitled for whole amount.0

you still have to have paid the rest off.
If what you were saying is true, I could go into town, pay £500 for three or four sofas (single deposists) then go and claim £5000 of my cc company when the comapny went bust?No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Sayzie,
Click on this link and scroll half-way down to Martin's interpretation of "Savvy Salma's" dilemma. If I am reading it correctly, you are, in fact, right about claiming the whole amount back from the CC company.

"Salma pays £10 on her credit card and the rest on her debit card"
not
Salma pays £10, company goes bust and Salma claims £500 or a nice tidy £490 profit. No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Oscar,
Martin says "yes she can claim the whole £500 from the credit card company". The debit card was given as an example, as Savvy Salma only had £10 limit on her CC. Please read the whole article. Then, if I am wrong in my understanding of what Martin is saying, I will apologise. We could all learn a little something from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.0 -

I have read the article. Section 75 only allows you to claim for losses. If OP didnt pay the remainder of what was owing, she hasnt lost anything as the CC has already agreed to refund the deposits.
Do you know of any company, regardless of Sec 75 that would give a refund for something you never paid for?No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
