Ditto, I wasn't looking to earn either, but it's nice that I do.

Akismet is pretty good - I use that. Assuming it's a Wordpress blog? Just keep on top of the updates and it'll be fine.

I have a few blogs. On different ones I write about a certain tv show I love, games I like playing, sites I use to boost income and how they work (mostly so I remember and remember to do them all daily!) I plan to start a beauty one as I had a very large stockpile of beauty samples. My page views vary from 4 to 305,684. I use blogger and with my adsense am predicting about £20 a month I think. Is hard to tell as I make very variable amounts on Adsense.

Have you added up how much time you put into it, so you can convert that £20 to an hourly rate,

Just got a relatively cheap hosting package and thrown up a wordpress blog. The main intention is to gain experience and find what works and what doesn't. Not expecting to make a penny for the first month or two at least. Biggest problem at the moment is backlinking and gaining traffic without sending a fortune on PPC or similar like a lot of people seem to recommend?

Would be interesting if one of the mods could have a word with Martin to see if he could do an article on how he started and got going. And what tip he and the other members of his team could throw out there?

I really enjoy writing my blogs. It gives me something to do while I'm unemployed and am writing about subjects I love so I'm not too bothered that I spend a lot of hours on it and the £ per hour works out at pennies per hour lol.

Sorry if this info is already posted but I can't find it. I have a blog which I find hard to continue with as I have very little views on the page but I love writing and I enjoy reviewing products etc and currently do so on Dooyoo. I am aware of companies that will pay you to review their products on your blog but I don't know who they are and searching Google is only bringing up US sites like SponsoredReviews.com.

So can anyone recommend a site for me as I'm itching to get writing reviews on products I use/own?

    Many thanks

Any companies willing to be pay will be looking for a website on a specific niche related to their product, with decent traffic, inbound links and regular user interaction.

If you don't have this then even if you find the companies willing to pay they are unlikely to offer you anything.

To get started you could always start writing in-depth reviews with lots of pictures and instead of being paid, sign up with amazon associates and put an affiliate link to the product. If anyone clicks through and buys you get a commission.

If you add images to your posts, don't forget to fill in the alt attributes if possible. It's surprising how many people will find you via an image search then as well as the normal keyword search.

I'd still like to know the names of companies that pay for reviews so that I can research them etc whilst building on my blog. I'd also like to look at the companies to know exactly what type of articles can be sponsored as then I can also decide where I should write, product reviews or something that I have a genuine interest in.

As I said I already write reviews on Dooyoo and a few other sites so I would be willing to move some of them over to my blog if I decide to go predominately with reviews.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I'm new to blogging and was just wondering about adding images. Where do you add them from? Google images for instance?

I dont have my own pictures of everything I talk about and I think my blog would benefit from a piccy or two, but dont want to steal other people's stuff, especially if there may be copyright issues.

    I'd appreciate your comments

    Thanks in advance
