yes had heard that as well, come may 17th am looking for a change. I know this is a different topic, but who would you recommend?

We have a small very rural exchange with no superfast broadband so alot of the offers aren't open to us, and also would if poss like to avoid any dealing with a Technical call centre based in India - have had endless frustration when contacting Tiscali this way, especially when broadband is down for some reason!

I also currently have a call package for anytime calls incl some of europe etc, which is currently costing me approx £26 a month (includes a discount for the line rental)

Money Saving Expert tends to list only the best offers which are usually for the fast broadband

Don't know about others but the o2 call centres are based in Leeds and Glasgow if I recall correctly.
Free number to call technical support and it is 24/7
Also their broadband is cheaper if you have an o2 SIMm or phone contract

Cant get cheap broadband with O2, cheapest they can do is £17+ and it doesnt incl any landline telephone calls
  • :mad:I know what your going through with Tiscali - for the sake of this thread I will leave out my frustration and just say they are rubbish.

Anyway your location sounds similar to mine, in other words your one of thousands of exchanges in Britain that BT has conveniently not got round to unbundling yet leaving all the people connected to it, and suppliers, using expensive BT wholesale to route through.

So what do you do? Well you have limited choices, BT - BT or BT for landline.... but then who do you plump for broadband. I can vouch for O2 being very good on that front been with them for 3 months now and was connected within 7 days of ordering, including free router that can be wireless or direct ethernet connection or both (4 ports for erthernet). The speed was slow at first but then had a very nice email informing me they had spotted the problem and "done somthing about it!" now I can watch BBCiplayer no problem and even tried the new HD service - that's a bit ropey on streaming but you can download 1Gb in about 45 minutes to one hour? (off peak). regular speed checks show a steady 2mb which is adequate.
The price for BT is about £11 with paperless billing for landline. O2 is £17 after O2 loyalty discount (we have mobile with them) but order through quidco and we received a very unexpected £70 cashback?
I say unexpected as the site said £25, which was better than kick in the teeth, but on signing in came up with that price?......all in were paying £23 for phone and broadband :Twhich turns out better than the £26 Tiscali were going to charge had they actually been able to deliver the goods....
O2 call centres are UK based. Wouldn't pay for a router if your gonna ditch your old contract.

There is no point buying anything if you can get your "get out of jail card" for Tiscali on the 17th May! Nearly all other ISP's give you a wireless router.
