Most insurers have small print requiring declaration of DD convictions and some other serious convictions for a longer period. Remember that many on line applications are an indication only, subject to terms and conditions and full disclosure.
You need to ring them to be 100% sure.0 -
The Insurers cannot require you to declare a conviction that is officially Rehabilitated

2 bits of poor advice.
1) Most insurers in fact do not have this small print!
2) Do not rely on any important "legal" info given to you over the phone. If you intend relying on any advice of a legal nature associated with a contract (eg insurance policy), then you need to get the answer in writing and be able to produce it if a dispute arises in the future. Using a phone conversation as your "proof" won't stand up!0 -

No phone calls are necessary. As mentioned already, unless a prison sentence was involved then the convictions is spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and so whatever question the insurer asks re: convictions the OP need not disclose it.0 -
the dr10 will affect you when it comes to hire cars etc

thanks, i rang norwich union earlier. they said the sme thing, they do not need to know convictions over 5 years
i didnt get sent down, i got a 12 month ban that got reduced to 9months, because i went on a course. the course was well worth the money as i learned lots from it too
so people who are in a similar position do the course0 -
If you had no claims bonus before your conviction it should still be valid if its 2 years old or under (3 years with NU and some other companies) providing you can prove it.0
