Cheapest mobile phone on a contract

Pls i am looking for a phone for my teenage son aon a contract
i found this deal with virgin media for £8.50 a month 100mins and 100 texts with a free LG or any of 6 other phones in the deal

1) what do you think of this deal?
2) is vigin network better than three

If you have an old phone you can get a sim only monthly contract or purchase a payg phone and stick a monthly sim in it. Big advantage with sim only is there a 30 day rolling contract so no 12-24 month tied down contracts.

Quite happy with what i get with virgin 300 mins and 300 txts for £10 a month, this is one of their old deals which I have kept going. Coverage isn't the best since i moved to this house, but on the whole, ok.

I have this deal,it's ok but I have to warn you the rates are very expensive when it runs over I've had a few bills for £60+ for next to no calls.

I have been told that Virgin uses T-mobile's network which is not very good in certain areas.
