Can I track my phone by the IMEI number?
Options
I had sent my old phone to the Mobile Phone Exchange through the NOTW for recycling. This was over a month ago and I am awaiting payment. I phoned them and they said they have not received my phone. I sent it recorded delivery but cannot find the receipt as it was so long ago.
What I want to know is can I find out where my phone is just by the IMEI number and if so how?

Your best bet is go to the post office where you sent it from, try to recall the date and time you sent, they should have a record and from there they could give you a reference and from there you could see where it is via the online royal mail tracking system and from there ...and from there....
I could have been a detective but I didnt have red shiny car and a moustache..!0 -
The networks can track an imei (at least to know what sims being used in it), I do it all day, but as far as I know the guys in CS don't have access to the tools to do it, sorry.0

Depends on the network.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Even if CS can tell what sims in it they can't tell anyone. It's covered under the data protection act.0

Thanks guys. I have given the IMEI number to the Mobile phone exchange and they are going to search for it0

The networks will know where the phone is within 3 metres if it is turned on and if the sim is changed it sends a signal to the network saying so.They cannot give this information out to just anybody and this kind of information costs the police a huge amount of money every time they use it for a court case.0
