SCS Faulty Sofa

Following on from my previous thread I am still having problems with SCS.
When I was sat on the sofa not long after receiving it, I noticed it was sagging. I unzipped the cover and looked inside - there was a big gaping hole in the inner lining, and the stuffing was falling out.
I rang the store, who fobbed me off with an 0845 number to call, as they don't deal with after-sales! I called and an upholsterer came round a fortnight later (25/03) and advised that the manufacturer just hadn't sewn it back up after filling it. (Not sure if this is true - the hole is in the middle, and there isn't any sewing in the same place on the other side...). He said I will receive a replacement in 7-10 days. A week later, I received a letter saying that a replacement cushion has been ordered, and will be delivered in 8-10 weeks.
I called the faults line, and was told to call the store. Called the store and was told that the latter was sent in error, and it will be delivered a week or so.
4 weeks later.. still no sign of it. The store say they will chase the manufacturer and call me back, but they never do.
This morning as I was plumping the cushions, I noticed a hole next to the seam in the other cushion. I have reported this to the faults line, who can't get an upholsterer to come and inspect it until the 13th May! So, assuming that it is replaced after he has come round, it could be mid-july when this is resolved!
Is there anything I can do about this? 8-10 weeks for a replacement cushion is ridiculous - the lead time on a whole sofa is 5 weeks.
I've just had enough...

Sorry I have no advice really but what ever you do don't go to csl or dfs either because they all use the same chinese firm to the their sofa's. We have had 5 corner group sofa's off csl over 15 months! It has been a total nightmare!
I hope you get it sorted soon.

 5 sofas! It must be so stressful!
When we ordered our sofa in January, the retail park that we went to has a DFS, SCS and CSL. We very nearly opted for one from CSL, but ended up going to SCS... I wish I didn't bother getting one at all now!0 -
Its not a brown corner unit with circles on the cushions by any chance is it. Im having a nightmare with faults on mine too and its wearing terrible. Already the cushions are pilling nd it looks awful.
The upholsterer is coming tomorrow to resolve the previous faults and to assess the newer complaint of it being bad quality.
I do not want to keep this sofa as after only 2 months it looks bad but where do I stand as a replacement isnt going to be any better as the material will be the same. Its not a cheapy sofa either where I could understand it being bad.0 -
No, mine is a three-seater with a "floral" pattern on the back cushions (sounds awful!) but it is a fabric sofa.I do not want to keep this sofa as after only 2 months it looks bad but where do I stand as a replacement isnt going to be any better as the material will be the same.
I feel the same, I've only had it for a month and a half, but the cushions are sagging due to holes, and it looks awful. It's hard to look after the sofa, when the cushions look so tatty. I am not willing to wait 10+ weeks to have the cushions replaced, but they are refusing to refund or replace the sofa.. I feel like I have no option.
Not sure whether it is worth calling trading standards/consumer direct.0 -

Did you pay by credit card? If so you cc company might be able to help youNever Say Die I've tried it and it doesn't actually make people die0 -
No ours was a superior corner unit, I can honestly say that csl do not order the sofa and wait for it to come from china they have sections of sofas that have been there since 2005,2007 and this year so they will never add up or sit inline.
We had in total 4 superior suites and 1 kiko suite too, finally we got our money back today.
If you google csl, dfs, scs problems you will find their alternative websites that are quite an interesting read
I would seriously recommend googling a company before I buy off them.

If you follow the above link it takes you to a gov site detailing Sale of Goods Act.
My advice - join Which? Legal. We have been members for years and it has saved us a fortune. It costs about £13.00 (ish) for a quarter but you can just join and cancel your subscription. We have used them and taken a retailer to court for faulty goods and won too!
My advice is also after you have spoken to the bods at Which? Legal to reject your order in its entirety. We did this for some Faulty conservatory blinds that had cost us over £3000.00. Ask for your money back and go somewhere else. You may b e charged a small fee for the usage that you have already had out of the sofa but faulty is faulty. The lawyers at Which? will guide you through every step of the way - helping you with letters, jargon and the small claims court should you need it.
Good luck. If you want any more advice about which? or going to court Pm me.
Thanks

Thanks all, I phoned consumer direct, and they advised to write to them, quoting the sale of goods act, and ask them to replace the sofa, and to respond to the letter within 14 days.
Template here: http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/making-complaint/template-letters/sale_of_goods_act/ if anyone else is having a similar problem.
If this doesn't work, consumer direct gave me a case number and advised to call them back.0 -
*** Update ***
SCS rang earlier, a repaclement cushion is due to be delivered on Wednesday. The upholsterer will deliver it and inspect the second fault while he is there.
So i'm half-way towards getting it sorted.. I still have to wait for the upholsterer to check the second fault, and (i assume) order another cushion, which, according to SCS, will take 8-10 weeks.
I also received a letter from Head Office today, acknowledging that I wish to reject the sofa and receive a replacement. They have said that they "will look into the matter" and get back to me within 14 days......0 -
So the upholsterer came yesterday, replaced the inner lining of the right cushion (but not the cover, as they told me they would...) and inspected the seam on the left cushion lining. He wanted to just sew it up, but we refused. We want a new cushion on the left side aswell, as it will just keep needing repairs - the seam isn't strong enough.
I feel like we are just being akward, but the problem is that the new cushion is much bigger/plumper than the older one and it looks ridiculous.
The upholsterer filled out a "repair rejection" form and said that we will have "a battle on our hands"
I called consumer direct earlier who have said to write to them and give them 10 days to replace the cushion or process a full refund.
I've had enough, its causing me so much stress... any one been in a similar situation and had a satisfactory outcome?0
