Monday 27th April "What small DFW things have you done today?" Thread

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Good morning everyone!! :hello:
Am starting the thread today for Sophiesmum who is relaxing in a travelodge!! Hope you've had a great time honey!
Good morning to all the regulars, and Welcome to any newbies - come in, sit down, have a cuppa, its fun!!
Its pouring with rain here :rolleyes2 cant believe it, after the lovely weekend we've had!! Ah well, good for the garden I suppose!!
Today.....
- Check online banking
- Clicks and scratchies (20p & 25p :j)
- Washing on airer (indoors!!)
- Packed lunches all round
- Chicken casserole for tea in slow cooker
- Try & do some comps later (though time may be short)
Busy later as younger DD has Rainbows, then older DD has Brownies - end up going back & forwards about 4 times!! :rotfl:
Have a jolly spiffing day everyone, with potted paste sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer!!

Morning All :hello: Thanks Mogchops.
It's raining here too, why did I bother watering my seedlings last night? :rotfl:
Another week, another set of aims to do. And a 3 day weekend at the end of it :j:j (am I wishing the days away??) So today I have/will:- been to the gym to use membership, and have a hot shower with their toiletries
(except their shampoo which appears to be washing up liquid :rotfl:)
- washing on at 30 - will dry on indoor airer when I pop home for lunch
- bread in the bm, but as I have run out of bread flour I'm using plain flour.....if it works it'll be cheaper, I've been using part and part recently with no ill effect....
- check out the possibility of a staff fare on the airline that Pa used to work for......could be I get one really cheap flight each year......fingers crossed it works out.
- scratch'n'clicks
- try and have a NSD, but I've skipped breakfast and the vending machine is calling me
0 - been to the gym to use membership, and have a hot shower with their toiletries
-
I was a good girl and was up early enough to make some sarnies for lunch, which will save me a pound or two in the staff canteen - and by using up some bread, it means that I'm not going to end up with a loaf that goes off!
Also walking home tonight which will save me £1.20 in bus fares;
Ordered a friend's birthday present on ebay last night - a sushi making kit for £7 which is different but hopefully she'll love it (as she spends a fortune buying the stuff) and will save money by learnign she can make her own and not need to spend £5 a day on 3 bits of sushi.
I do still need to list some things on ebay but I keep forgetting to do it, that and send a complaint to the FOS about how Egg ramped up everyone's interest before they sent all those letters closing accounts.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Morning Mogchos, the daily DFW gang and any newbies,
Busy day today - got interviews for new people at work :j. Have lots to do - today is payday:j. Here's my list:- charge phone at work
- print May budget
- withdraw cash to pay for yoga classes and to add to envelopes
- lunch to work
- storecupboard dinner
- post my grocery challenge totals - if I don't count my spends at work for food then I am under budget. But, I think that if I spend money for food at work then it should come out of the grocery budget so I am way over. Need to focus on this!

Hi all
Quick post as should be working ( shhh.....!)
Hope sophiesmum is having a lovely time and thanks to mogchops for stepping in.
Big news for me is that my final loan payment went out today so am dancing and singing! :j
Unfortunately that isn't the end of my journey but have manged to BT my CC to another 0% deal and if I stay really focused I can clear it in a year. The best thing is that, thanks to this site, I now really feel in control so I know where my money goes and when small hiccups occur ( like OH doing the shopping yesterday - 4 tins of tomatoes for £3.50+) or even bigger ones I know I can adjust and cope.
Usual other stuff too but so glad I can tick off one debt!
Have a great day everyone
Belle
xGetting there...slowly!
GC : must do better
NSD: very rare
No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.0 -
