Try popping it in the oven when it's cooled down enough to be WARM, not hot... that will help dry it out.

I don't see how it could get wet in light rain unless you were using it upside down.

NO NO NO - DO NOT FOLLOW THIS ADVICE!!!!!!
Your Ipod will probably have a LiPo battery in it, if it heats up over a certain temperature it can catch fire or even explode! This might not happen until after you have removed the ipod from the heat source.
If you have an airing cupboard suggest you put it in there instead.0
