ipod nano + stupid husband!! Help please.

Silly OH had ipod in the kitchen on docking station whilst doing washing up. He managed to knock a full glass of water over which splashed up and now the nano isn't working, won't even switch on.

So question is....is it worth trying to take it apart and how can you do this OR should I just write it off and can I claim against house insurance?

taking it apart wont do much good, more chance of breaking it and voiding any warrenties than getting it to work, get some rice and put it in a bowl, then put the ipod in the rice with it submerged all around it. leave this in a cool dry place and check it daily, if after 2 weeks it doesnt work then its a write off i think.

this works by drawing out the moisture. so its a good shot
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

wow RICE??! never heard of that before!! I'm going to be lost without it and can't really afford a new one but then also wondering if it's worth claiming on house insurance or will we just end up paying more in premiums next year?
  • Beccam enquired "can I claim against house insurance " regarding her "stupid husband"(Her words not mine).

Do you mean replacing husband with "New of Old" or would you accept some reduction for wear 'n tear??

    Cheers!

    Lodger.

PS I'd fear being attacked as sexist were I to suggest my wife were stupid. Which she ain't btw...

Only if you suggested that all wives were stupid ;)

Can you last two weeks beccam? My friend has an ipod touch and my husband is suffering severe gadget envy

Try popping it in the oven when it's cooled down enough to be WARM, not hot... that will help dry it out.

Or on a warm radiator... airing cupboard...

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure if that would do more harm than good but thinking about it......what harm can it do if its already broken!! :o

artfull~ I would sometimes be very grateful if I could exchange my husband for a new model every once in awhile, even one with a bit of wear and tear! :rotfl:

Just be aware that all ipods have a gizmo inside that shows if it's got wet, so no chance of returning to Apple claiming it just stopped worksing.

Its over a year old now so was guessing they wouldn't take any responsibility for it anyway.
Just so peeved off at OH, silly man!!
  • well...

Have you considered the iHusband Touch or the iHusband Shuffle??

iHusband Touch early models suffered from frequent "Freezes" when they inexplicably stopped doing anything.. just like the real thing... Shuffle just shuffles...

    - er,, better stop now with this line of reply...

if you need to get into the thing.

Alternatively, if it is screwed, send it to me... I'll have a go at fixing it!! No warranty though lol
