I think you misunderstood me CKdesigner.

They WERE using ML for Miele.
They NOW have a direct account with Miele and don't have ANY appliances on display. As I said, they were talking about putting 1 Miele appliance into 2 of their 7 showrooms. They were going to put Miele into the Metris display, but decided to go for Gaggenau instead...

I'm sorry - I don't want to labour on this point but if they sell retail kitchens then they will not have a proper trading account with Miele with proper trade discount terms and not display the minimum requirment. I have a copy of the trade agreement in my Miele file just like every other Miele dealer and we all have to adhere to the terms.

If your old company is being given a trade discount by the Miele ASM for that area without compliance to the trade agreement then the ASM better have a very good reason, otherwise if the situation is as you describe then for the ASM it would be considered gross mis-conduct. Miele take this sort of thing very seriously.

    Now now boys!!

This thread started when people wanted to know about discounting WICKES, B&Q, and Homebase kitchens. Keeping that in mind your 50k kitchens are probably a little over budget so....... lets get back to the point!!

Everyone has offers on for the Bank Holiday so nows the time to bag yourself a bargain. Do the shop hop though ladies and gents!! Dont be seduced by just price, its a balancing act!! Remember when your in Wickes (which you should be ;) ask for discount in other areas of the store, its easy for the store to agree to this although its down to the manager to authorise!! ............................................................... And we have lots of great appliances to go with it ;)

I can quite confidently tell you to shop around with an open mind.... people always come back.

And if your really strapped for cash we do have a range to take away. Not the same quality as the "To Order Kitchens" but fine if you just want something for a few years to tidy the place up!

As a Homebase employee I know we price match for B&Q and Wickes, and also if you say you cant get to a store on a 10% day but dont want to miss out on the "fantastic" price then they will most likely knock that off for you without much hassle. Good luck!

I ordered a kitchen from Homebase recently and they would not price match my B&Q quote! Their argument for the kitchen style I wanted (high gloss white) that they would price match Magnet (!) but not B&Q as their doors are made out differently (something to do with what kind of gloss it was), the cabinet depth of wall units etc.... I did try but no luck, maybe I should have asked for the manager but he was on holiday at the time. I still placed an order only as I preferred the look of the Homebase kitchen, but now I'm kind of not sure if I'm getting the best price and they keep moving the delivery date....

I can't believe that Homebase would price match Magnet. Homebase will always, in case, be less expensive than Magnet, so maybe they will match Magnet by raising their price. :D

B&Q are their nearest rival so I can't understand the reluctance to price match them.

I looked at Homebase, but to be honest, none of their kitchen range appealed to me.

I know, Magnet apparently makes doors for them and they go on and on about it.

We got our kitchen from Wickes a couple of months ago. It was fitted by our SIL's friend and he is a qualified carpenter who normally works for a bespoke kitchen company. He looked at the kitchens in B&Q and Homebase and recommended Wickes being the best quality by far.
When we ordered it, we were offered an appliance as part of the deal they had, but we didnt want it, so they took £300 off, there was a sale on at the time, so it was a very good deal.
Now its fitted it looks lovely.

Nice to see a happy customer!! I have just had my new kitchen fitted (Wickes of course or i'd have to sack myself) and im looking at it now..... Lovely!! Its fantastic to see the finished result in my own home :)

During the sale they will almost always offer either a half price or free appliacne (usually a dishwasher) and that discount is normally transferable to either a different appliance or off the cost of a kitchen if you dont want any appliances.

Check out if your area has a fitting service too. Wickes is rolling this out nationally and so far it is running in about 1/3 of the country. The feedback is amazing. Its a service which Wickes dont profit from at all so you get a good deal and the fitters get paid fairly for the job.

Some companies get fitters working for them but then they take such a massive cut that the fitters are working for rubbish money, meaning the good ones leave. Wickes have set their new installation service up as just that A SERVICE which means they dont cream massive ammounts off the cost. Its great!! x

    Hi Claire,

I'm not sure but I always thought it is illegal to take money off if someone doesn't want the free item - because if you take money off then it would suggest the customer would have been paying for it in the first place so it wasn't free.

As I say I don't know for sure - just always thought this was the case.

Anyway - glad you like your new kitchen.
