You'll find on most MSE boards that people use the Thanks button to indicate agreement; that might not be the way it's supposed to be used but it's very common.

(If you worry about this sort of thing, never read the Depression Support section, everybody thanks everybody else ALL the time!)

I expect Healy has hit the thanks button on this - just to wind me up ! - oh wait a minute Alwaysonthego has also!
  • It's a conspiracy!

Admit you are wrong Andy and move on, hopefully you can take away some useful information that you can research further.

Me and ONW are unjoined siamese twins and therefore we have to agree with one another otherwise we would be disagreeing with ourselves.

No infact we are trolls, especially that Healy, that helps people in our spare time.

Oh dear it appears nobody agrees with you Andy!

Looking at the amount of posts you all have put on this forum, I acknowledge that you give a lot of people including myself valuable advice which they appreciate. I just do not think it is necessary for all 3 or perhaps 4 or even 5 of you to be continually up each others backsides when replying to posts by hitting the thanks button. Myself I only submit the thanks button when I have been given good advice including by yourselves. I think that we will have to agree to disagree on this !

I use the thanks button to acknowledge that I value and agree with other posters. Usually Healy, ONW and I thank one another because we have specialised knowledge. Although I do not know everything, I am quite happy for a poster to correct me and this is something that I can learn from.

I thank people if I think they have given others good advice, not just myself. But yes, agree to differ is the way to go. :)

Am I the only one wondering why the OP would not have paid money that he owed to his ex-wife when he was working and had more than £16,000 in savings and it is only now that he is unemployed that he is considering re-paying the debt. He states clearly that he did not get a redundancy payment so he must have already had this money. He also says he is on good terms with his ex. Very strange.

Nothing strange, we recently divorced and the money I owe her is half of all our ill gotten gains over the years. The settlement figure has only recently been reached after cashing everything in and dividing it in half. It's just unfortunate it coincides with my redundancy but everything is above board and open to inspection by inspectors from the benefits people.
    It's someone else's fault.

On the subject of thanking people for replies I think many posters do the same as me and thank everybody in advance in the original question.

I can assure you that nothing is further then the truth !!. I have no ego at all !
At least I do not ask my friends and colleagues who contribute to this forum to Thank me for every post I write. You will see that all my thanked posts are from genuine posters !!
