Tiscali Contract Problem

Hello All

I am in middle on Tiscali £14.99 contract which is 8 meg broadband, free line rental and free weekend calls.

Now I am moving house and after speaking to them, I was advised that I will have to cancel my free line rental and free calls as they do not install lines anymore. All they can transfer is my broadband.

They want me to arrange a new BT line at new address and then they will tranfer the broadband.

My point is that why should I get just the broadband when I pay for line rental and calls ?

They do not listen to me. What should I do as I wasnt advised about this when I signed this contract with them. Tiscali installed the new line at my present address for free.

Thanks in advance.

    11.3 You should then call BT and ask for a landline connection at your new property. It is recommended that you do this as far in advance as possible.
    11.4 Once you have received your new phone number from BT, please contact Customer Services to arrange for provision of the Telephone Services to your new address (this may require a new Application). Initially, you will only be able to move your Tiscali Call Service and Broadband Services. Your Tiscali Line Rental can only be re-instated once your minimum term with BT (which is usually three months for line rental if reconnecting) has expired. Any Minimum Contract Period relating to your Tiscali Line Rental which is outstanding when you move to your new home will be waived, and a new Minimum Contract Period may be applicable when it is re-instated.
    12.4 You may end your contract with us for the Services at anytime if: 12.4.1 you move to a new address to which we cannot provide the Services. In such case you must contact us in advance by telephone (please see condition 13 "Contacting us") and produce written proof of your new address;

    Broadband Services 11.1 If you move home or change the Service Number to which you connect to the Broadband Services, you must tell us immediately. You may still be able to continue to receive the Broadband Services, however we may charge you an additional fee for doing this where we incur costs for any reason. We will tell you what the amount of this fee is prior to charging you. It may take up to 20 working days to move the Broadband Services from the Installation Address to your new address and you may experience a loss of service during this time. You will continue to be responsible for the Charges for your Broadband Services at all times during the moving process. Please also note that if you move home or change your Service Number, your contract with us for the Broadband Services will continue until it is ended in the way set out in condition 12 "Ending the Services". don't install lines? then why does their website suggest that they do? maybe you need to speak to someone else....

    Although, i have seen this;

    12 month contract applies. Subject to local availability, compatibility and fair use policy. A £30 set up fee applies for BT active lines. For non BT or inactive phone lines a £99 line activation fee will apply

    Are you sure they didn't say that they won't do it for free? As it seems that they can set up a line for you as well, be it for £99 if the new place has no active BT line....
  • Clause 12.4 is the one I should speak to them about ?

    They are a funny bunch as I had a BT phone socket, (service stopped) they took my order for BB with free LR/calls but I had no dial tone on go live date!

    THEN They said I couldn't go straight to them without going via BT so I contacted BT who signed me up and again no dial tone on go live date TOO!!! BT then said Tiscali had the line!!!

    I had to have BT Openreach out to do something on the line as well which took a couple of weeks!

    I got my set up fee waived and some compensation, I spoke to loads of people and had to write letters to their CEO.
