Actually it is a very good AV. It has one of the smallest footprints if not the smallest, thus hardly any hit on system resources(even the Smart Security Suite beats most standalone AV installations). One of the quickest scanning times and very high detection rates.

The firewall is poor in tests but then again most are behind a router firewall anyway.

I'd still rather have Avira AntiVir than ESET. 99.7% detection rate compared to 97.6%...

I've been recommending Avira as a free alternative for a while now.;)
