Best Car Deals To Take Advantage Of The Government £2000 Scrapage Deal?

Dealdrivers- You were part of my current search for an SMax (sitting on top if I finance myself but possibly pipped by the dealer if they do a deal with optional extras)
However, do you think the following scenario is possible (simplified price)?
Dealdrivers price inc extras £15000 - dealer will "add" £1000 (£16000) and then take £2000 off for scrappage? Obviously I would need to drop the car off at the dealers with the paperwork. Or do the dealers not want you to know who they are thus avoiding canabalising their sales?0 -
I found this deal for a fiat panda that looked pretty good let me know what you think, it won't let me post a link but google and type fiat panda scrappage scheme0

just went to renault you can get a basic twingo for £4995 which doesn't sound bad
from what I've been reading the scrappage isn't always £2000 the manufactur can take more of the retail if they want like fiat for instance, I got this off honest johns website
Fiat Panda 1.1 Active ECO for £4995: Normal list price £7095. Scrappage scheme removes £1000 and Fiat’s deal saves a further £1100;
* Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 Active for £6995: Normal list price £9650. Scrappage scheme removes £1000 and Fiat’s deal saves a further £1655;
hope this helps0 -
Just bought a hyundai i10 using the scheme. Very lucky to get a cancelled order as customer went for the i20 instead.
The problem is you have to have a current MOT when you trade the car in not when you place the order. Most dealers of the small 6k cars have months delays. Renault are talking about August, as are Kia. Hyundai hope for stock in July but these have all been ordered after that its Sept......0 -

Hi all
Working for Toyota as i do i have been surprised by some of the negative feedback about the scheme on this site many people seem to think they are not getting a good deal, i have to disagree, we have been really busy ordering via the scheme mainly aygo and yaris for example a yaris tr or sr model gets the initial £2000 scrappage scheme offer plus £750 if the car is ordered by the end of june, this makes a yaris tr 3 door in red £7510 on the road instead of £10260 for a 1.0 litre or £8245 for a 1.3 litre road tax is only £35 on these cars on these cars by the way, and with the aygo which is also £35 road tax you can get into a bais aygo for £5285 .so you can see were giving better deals than most so we also give free mots to our customers for as long as they keep the car, how is that not a great deal:T update 08/05/09 Toyota have now said car only has to have a valid Mot at time of ordering not time of delivery, this gives greater flexibility but it has to be said causes a problem if mot runs out before car arrives. there are no plans to increase prices to claw back some of the margins lost and with toyota every car in the range is able to have the scrappage scheme, email me if you have any queries

last year you could pick up a fiat panda for around the 5K mark no problem,infact im sure you still could if you went to a dealers and haggled hard enough.
the fiat panda deal is open to anyone so anyone can walk into the showroom and buy it with the current otr discount of £1100, and then haggle some more off.
so if your old banger is worth more than £1k then sell it dont scrap it....work permit granted!0 -

You haven't been in a dealers recently have you?
Why even try to haggle (from the dealers viewpoint), when all the cars are sold for the next two months, and the queue is still out of the door?
They don't even start, they just move down the queue to the next customer round here.
You are right about the trade in though, but that's always been the case, get the best price you can, private sales used to be better than trade in's, but now it's a guaranteed minimum of £1000.0
