Hi all!
Thanks for your comments.
Lemonade Pockets.
How smart of you to identify the Fiesta...and therefore the dealership.
Understand your comments about the FSA requirements for selling the GAP insurance. However wish they had been as diligent and compliant when trying to 'sell' the finance package. I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the salesman to ask how I was planning to fund the purchase but the question never arose. Instead he worked out the total on the computer with all the add-ons and his actual words were , "That works out at £159 per month, how does that sound to you?" No mention of paying any other way, of paying a deposit, APR of loan , term of finance, name of finance company or anything.
Outrageous, IMO.
A bit of breathing space is most useful. I've become fairly lukewarm about the Fiesta as the day has progressed.
a. They don't deserve my business
b. I agree that if I have been treated badly once, what treatment might I receive if I have to go back to them with any problems?
c. I don't want any hassle or repercussions. I don't like who I'm dealing with and can't be bothered covering my back at every turn, re further checks once vehicle has been cleaned up , making sure repair is done properly etc. The car has tax til the end of Sept, I know at some point they'll add that to the bill as well!
d. While you were all posting this afternoon, I was test driving a new Hyundai i10 and was pleasantly surprised. Under their scrappage deal it comes out at out at just under £5000 for basic and £5400ish for the next model up. Good spec, roomy interior, 5 year unlimited mileage transferable manufacturer's warrenty, £35 road tax and what's more a friendly, helpful salesman.
Appreciate your input on this folks!0 -
Glad you got it sorted, sounds like a better all round deal as well.
As you rightly pointed out there is no excuse for tardy salesmanship.
Unfortunately the approach you mentioned is pretty standard for EH, even if you said you were paying cash they'd of still gone through all that crap.0 -
Besides, a Service Car means it's probably been ragged about by a number of different people in its short life. As the battle scar indicates, they don't tend to be looked after as well as privately owned cars or even ex-demonstrators.0

Agreed. I still think 1160 miles was very low for a Service car registered in September 08. That works out less than 40 miles a week??
I wondered whether the dealer had bought it up at auction as a repossession by a finance company.
Anyway my letter has been sent to the Dealer Principal today and I think we are settled on the Hyundai scrappage deal for an i10.0
