Hi
My 2and a half year old has just learnt how to undo his carseat buckle...found this out when doing 70 on the motorway, he seems quite please with himself and whilst he might not do it again I would like to take steps to make it harder or better still stop him undoing it altogether. I have seen devices that work on seatbelts but does anyone know if anyone makes a similar device to stop my son opening the 5point harness?
I have looked at the 5point buckle/lock and its working fine and not loose or anything else--its just the little terror has figured out how to do it and now has the strength required to press the catch down
thanks
Jim

Agreed, but also provide distractions - maybe something like this? A play table that fits over the car seat, it's soft and safe, and has inbuilt toys.
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Exactly. The child is old enough to understand that some things are not to be done but also old enough to want something to do in what is, for the most part, a terribly unstimulating environment.

A massive bollocking leaving him absolutely sure what will happen if he does it again.

And if this doesn't work smacked hands should get the message across. After all the do-gooders can say 'oh you evil person you mustn't do that but its isn't them going to be potentially talking to angels due to a sudden distraction a 70mph. You dont have to smack hard just enough to get the point across and hopefully not even that. Personally i would smack my child and go to gaol (or jail )rather than risk the family being wiped out.

    Clever lttle one!

How about sewing something to go round the catch with poppers? It would be hard to get the poppers undone and whilst I agree with the other posters about it being a boring environment, allow you sone piece of mind whilst driving, therefore making it a lot safer for all!!

I'm not sure how these things work but maybe a piece of material that goes under the catch and then you can popper on top?? Hopefully little hands would take a while to undo poppers!

Otherwise, do they sell handcuffs in baby size? :)
