I was prompted to write this post by the above from Seth however I also think this may also be of help to many others.

With regard to Seth’s question relating to software for successfully unlocking the above phone (and many other models too) there is indeed free software available for download. I have successfully unlocked a fair number of Nokia 1101’s and other Nokia models with the calculators shown below. The setting “Virgin – SPECIAL CODE” should be used for the current crop of Virgin Nokia 1101’s.

The latest WorldUnlock Calculator version 4.3 is even capable of unlocking some (but not all) Nokia 6111 models. The version I have mainly used is version 4.2 (version 4.3 was only released on 11th June 2006).

The software unlocker versions available from WorldUnlock are effectively updated versions of the Crux 5.00 unlocker. I consider the Crux 5.00 unlocker (and its Worldunlock successors) to be probably the best free unlocking software currently available and to be generally far more successful than the various free online calculator unlocking sites.

For anyone wanting a copy of Crux 5.00 unlocker it can be found in the downloads section of the website:
