Thank you Browntoa; tried it, but with another network sim (orange) it just says Sim not valid. any ideas? am i running out of the number of times i can enter a code?

Hi Browntoa, I've also tried what you recommended to JOJO and also got the SIM not valid message. I tried it with two known good sims, both vodafone and got the same result both times.

Maybe virgin pre-empted the mad dash to unlock our £4.99 phones and found a way to thwart us??

By the way, I tried the codes from nokiafree.org and when I pressed the final # nothing happened, just sat there a few seconds then reverted to "insert SIM", didn't get that satisfying "SIM restriction off" message. I then tried it with my vodafone sim card just in case it had worked but got "SIM not valid" ??

you need a non virgin sim in to enter the code (you could also try without a sim in)
