Thanks Browntoa, the 1101 worked perfectly but I hit a problem with the 8146.

After entering both codes I got a message saying "simcard was not restricted" so thought that was it done, but the phone has just rejected a new Sim.

I tried entering the codes with a virgin sim, then tried again with an O2 sim it was telling me was invalid. It keeps coming up with the same message about the sim not being restricted. I no longer have the original virgin sim for this phone so cannot try with that one.

Any suggestions please?

although it looks like its now unlocked?

also found that it is 1800 mhz which means it wont work on o2
02 = 900
vodafone = 900
orange = 1800
tmobile = 1800

You are right, it was unlocked. I just tried a Tmobile sim and it was fine. And that explains why I thought all was well yesterday, I'd put an Orange sim in before the O2 one.

Thanks so much to you and Browntoa. I really love my old Nokia even though it never gets to leave the house these days, Other phones come and go, but not that one.
