Hi all apologies for hijacking the thread but I was so thrilled with my nephew the other week. He's 11 and his ds is 14. He asked her if she had any money to give him because he was £2 short for a robot wars figure he wanted on ebay. She naturaly told him no and to go away. He then said I'm not asking you for real money because I'm not aloud to ask for money but have you any of your no good money that you let me have.
As you can imagine I was intrigued to say the least and asked what on earth they were talking about. It turned out that my niece thinks small change is a waste of time bothering with and lets her brother have any she leaves lying around or gives him. He said 'but what she doesn't realise is I've got a jar upstairs I put it in and when it's full I take it to town and they let you spend it in the shops.' Told him that this was definitely the way to go and he should continue to do this as he got older and he'd soon have a house etc. Mind you I did feel a twinge of sympathy for the person behind him in the shop when he counted out £4.99 for a wrestling figure in small change0 -
Angelaf that is the cutest thing I ever heard!!
Just think, if we had all been a little more like your nephew and a little less like his sister, none of us would be here! :rotfl:
Good luck to him and you with your MSE guidance!

Hi all,
Bit of a glitch here on Monday, had to empty the jar and use it to get gas because on Monday morning my boss decided t phone me and tell me that as of that day my job was no longer available due to financial difficulties within the company
Am gutted as it means I've lost £250 a month (I know it's not much but it covered some stuff)!!!
Will start saving my coppers again though and am looking for a job the now I'd love to go back to college but have a 3YO son and myself and my partner desperately need money.
Well done to all of you who have almost reached your targets this month though!:ADon't regret the things you've done, regret the things you have'nt!!!:A0 -

I got another £4 in change yesterday, so have got to £48.10/£50 for last month. £10 was in £5 notes so DH paid that into the bank yesterday as I think it’s better to pay it to the card asap and cut down the interest I’m paying than sitting there in the cupboard.
Welcome Sassypie and Louby_lou, nice to have you joining in with us. It is intensely satisfying seeing your change building up and being able to cut down on debts. Please keep us updated on how you are doing and post as often as you like as we all find it encouraging to hear how we are all doing.
Angelaf, what a cute story! Your nephew sounds like a really savvy little boy, he’s got his head screwed on right! Would you or your nephew like to join in with us?
Diva really sorry to hear about your job, that’s really sad news. £250 a month is quite a lot really and can make a huge difference to the budget, so I hope you are able to sort out something financially – a new job or some benefits if you are going to college. Please do not worry about using your loose change fund to pay the gas, it’s far better to use the money you have than stick it on a card or go into the overdraft. Please let us know how you are and how the job hunt is going as I’m sure we will all worry about you. Is there anything we can do to help, anything you need in particular?

Hi guys,
My jar is still empty alas. I did spend today but once again it went on the debit card so I don't have a single cent in change!
Hope you're all having a great day!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
