i am am not sure but i would suggest to form a legally binding part of the contract it would need to be displayed at every till tesco have an offer to treat, you form the contract when you buy the item
Exactly last week in my local Tesco Extra the good old R&R refund policy was still displayed on little blue OUR PROMISE notices at every checkout. Yet at CS they have the new double difference.
I know this as I too was overcharged on a reduced item [sticky buns]. Took them to CS, who showed me how the original price can override the the reduced one, then appologised for the error and immediately gave me back double the difference saying 'when we make a mistake and you are over charged charged, we refund you double the difference of your overcharge.
As she was sooooo nice did not have the heart to point out the R&R notices on the tills, and ask very nicely WHICH POLICY THEY WERE THEY CURRENTLY USING and could I choose after working out which would be more fiscally beneficial to me [i.e. work out in my the customers favour]. will save that for another time [if the notices are still there] and a stroppy CS.

    Hiya M.U.N.T! :j:hello:

I was wondering if you were still on MSE only a couple of days ago...and here you are! I suddenly realised there were a whole bunch of people who I hadn't seen post recently. I guess you were posting on other threads and were here lurking all the time just waiting for a DTD/R&R thread...:D

And to Schamansky, fight on and let us know what happens!

  • I have received double-the-difference refund on many reduced items at the 2 Tesco stores which I frequent. So I guess you should not have any problems. It may be due to the carelessness of the person doing the reductions that you have been overcharged or due to the carelessness of the checkout assistant in scanning the proper barcode. In both situations, I have been paid DTD . On one occasion the Customer Service person told me that DTD is not applicable to yellow sticker items. I wrote to Tesco Customer Services with a copy of my receipt and the yellow barcoded stickers and was sent a moneycard and an apology letter. Hope your issue is resolved soon.

Way to Go Schamansky! can I be in your gang? I love a good fight with those who see themselves as being "Above us all".
Look forward to hearing about the next round of the battle.

    Chapter 3

This time, the Missus and I go back to the store around 18:00 hours, presenting the receipt to a different member of staff. That's a bloke we know and who's always been ok with refunds.

He calls the duty manager. Turns up another Tesco logician around 25. Who doesn't budge either, but gives us another load of bull along the lines that the DTD policy is at the store management's discretion (yeah sure, tell yo' grandma) and backs up his trainee, who is lurking from behind the customer service desk.

We point out that a trainee manager is not a manager, to which he replies that he would not discuss company training procedures with us. (For a good reason, I'd say...)

We make it known that we're going to write to Tesco HQ Cheshunt. Now he really tries it on by on telling us we can't do that and we'd have to take it up with Customer Services in Dundee (yeah sure, yo' great grandma). We leave the store saying we'd complain about him, too.

Going to write to HQ now.

    To be continued...

OMG you sound just like my hubby, he would be doing exactly the same as you taking it as far as it can go, dragging me to the counter with him while I try to find a hole to jump into.

One example he cut his finger on a bottle at tesco's (obviously a bottle had smashed against it and a tiny piece of glass stuck against the sticky side). Well did my hubby go to the doctors first noooo he went straight back to tesco dripping with blood wanting compo

In the past I have had problems with Tesco. I have found from experience that the PA to the Chief Executive is very nice ( or she was a few years ago). When I complained about staff I wrote direct to the Chief Executive and marked the envelope private and confidential. I'd advise anyone to do this when dealing with a company where you have had problems with the store (whatever store).
