Tesco, overcharging, and copious amounts of bovine faeces?

Just a quick thought, they say they won't refund you on the basis of it being "human error", but if it wasn't human error, what other sort of error could it be?
Surely all pricing errors, are human errors, or have they started to employ robots? (whom would have been programmed by humans, and therefore in the event of error, would still technically be human error!)
Now, if it isn't an overcharge, what is it? You paid £2.00, and not 20p as was priced; so what do they call this - not an overcharge but, hmmmmm (scratches head), I can't think of another term for it
Their customer service is the exact reason why last month I decided to stop shopping at Tescos.
Good luck with your mission, there is no way they should be able to wriggle out of this.I'm a nutter :j0 -

Basically what I was going to post! If you take this Tesco 'human error' excuse to its nth degree, ALL errors are instigated by humans (unless we are talking the laws of the jungle here). Awful company but they will only change if you people stop using them.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Good luck with your crusade, I hope they refund you what you were due and enclose a big cheque for the mis-understanding. Don't know how they train these so called managers at Mr T's.I hate migraines.0

I can see that you were overcharged when buying this salad, but to be honest if they had done that to me for £1.80 I really don't think I would have been arsed to make such a fuss! You had your 2 bags of salad for 20p and gained £1.80 for nothing. Really life is short, if you don't like their policies shop elsewhereCarpe Diem

OP why dont you just give up, you got refunded the difference, is it worth it for £1.80,0

are there any lawyers out there who could let us know the legality of displaying the dtd sign and then not honouring it? I'm with everyone else, why should the customer be penalised by the method in which the overcharge happened - are tescos not responsible for the actions of their staff in the course of their job?
you could i guess challenge it on the grounds they are not adhering to their own procedures but would be a lot of money for what is essentially £1.80

Two things I'd like to add - i don't think he got £1.80 for nothing , that was just giving him back the money he shouldn't have paid in the first place.
Also, as I see it, its not only about the money/DTD. Tesco have a written policy about this and their staff should ALL know what that policiy is and stick to it ! They are totally out of order giving out all this bull**** and bending the rules depending on how ratty they feel on any particular day. This particular case may well only involve a small amount of cash - but next time it could be much bigger and, if nobody fights for there rights then Tesco will continue to get away with treating their customers rights as a source of amusement.
I don't blame the OP for sticking up for his rights - I would do the same(and certainly have done myself in good old days of R&R). Personally I've usually found Tesco staff (checkout and CS) to be fine whenever I have had an issue over pricing, quality etc. but - if it does sometimes go wrong- then I want it put right in the proper manner and don't expect to have to make a fuss about it.ELITE 5:2

Good luck with this
As has been pointed out it is not the money but the principle.
Tesco seem to be saying "We have a clearly stated policy which you can see, however we can alter and amend or interpret that in any way we see fit"0 -

I understand why you would be upset , i agree there may be a training issue

but its not a legal right , its a tesco policy for good will when you have been overcharged so tesco have the option to change or ammend this policy if required ..

I didn't see anyone say it was a legal right? As the policy is clearly and unambiguously stated at the CS desk, the policy forms part of the contract when a customer walks into a Tesco store and decides to buy something - the contract becomes binding when the person pays for the item and gets their receipt.
So, after that, Tesco cannot change or amend any terms of the contract for customers whose contract has already been formed. Tesco can't wriggle out of the contract IMHO but they do like to try (RIP R&R).
It's not the money it's the principle...:DPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
