Virgin Media Cancellation fee -£120

Hi,

I just spoke to VM about cancelling my BB, telephone and Tv services with them, I signed up about 1.5 months ago.

I asked the staff at the customer retention department, and he said the cancellation fee was at £120, is this correct because I read that the cancellation fee was only £50.

Is this right?

£120 sounds closer to what i'd expect for cancelling a 12 month contract (at at least a tenner a month) 10 months early, as from memory they charge the minimum monthly amount for the remaining contract period.

From the Virgin Media website:

If you end this agreement before the end of the minimum period for any of the services (other than in the circumstances outlined in section K or paragraph J3), you must immediately pay (to Virgin Media Payments) the balance of the line rental (if this applies) or the monthly charges (or both) that you would have paid for the rest of the minimum period for each separate service (based on the line rental and monthly charges that you are paying when your agreement ends).

I must have confused it with terminating the VM services after the minimum term period.

How much would you pay if you completed your minimum contract?

You are not allowed to leave VM.

In your case,you signed a 12 month contract so if you cancel then the £120 sounds about right.
