Is it returning any error message?

    Has your subscrption expired?

    Is it a legitimate version?

Are you sure this is the exact message as there doesn't seem to be any info on this specific error in the usual sources.

Do you have a firewall installed? If so, try disabling it when doing LiveUpdate and see if it makes a difference.

That,s a bit dangerous to advise opening firewall up and connecting. I've got the same Norton Internet Security with the firewall running and it receives the updates ok and didn't have to set anything in the firewall to allow it either. I wouldn't expect a Norton firewall to block access to and from its own site.

There is a Norton removal tool called SymNRT.exe but i don't know if it has any draw backs...do a google search on it....but reaed about possible downsides...at your own risk use it.

I've had this message before. I put it down to a site problem as it started to work a day or so later and nothing had changed on my pc.

There is a facility to upgrade to the latest Live Update tool.....I did this yesterday, but I did it through a direct link so I'm not sure If I could find it again, lol.

Might be worth trying that if you can find it on the Symantec site?

I had a similar problem as I have zone alarm on my PC which prevented Norton o access the internet to complete the live update but once I changed the permissions it allowed Norton to automatically run the update and seems to be ok now

    Read [STRIKE]here.[/STRIKE]

Sorry...didn't realise link would time out.

Go to www.symantec.com and click on support. Find your product in the 'Home Section' and click through the options offered (Solve it Myself section) until you come to a page where you can type in your question. Type in 'live update couldn't retrieve updates' and you'll get a list of possible causes.

The option to download the latest live update is there too, the link for it is in one of the answers.

Hope you get it going if you haven't already. :)
