Hi just got a new Nokia 3220 and I've put my sim into it from my old Nokia 7100 and all my numbers have gone. I tried putting it back in old phone and they are there so I can only assume the numbers are saved to the phone not the sim. I can't find a way to copy the numbers on mass to the sim card so I can port them to the new phone, I don't have the old instruction book for the 7100 any ideas would be appreciated. Last straw will be me having to write them all down then type them in new phone which I'd rather not do. Thanks in advance.
:p

Nokias tend to follow similar menus, here goes:

    1. On your original phone with its own SIM card in Press NAMES
    2. Scroll down menu to COPY, press SELECT
    3. Scroll till it reads "From phone to SIM card", press SELECT
    4. Scroll down to ALL, press SELECT
    5. Scroll down to "Move Original", Press select
    6. Start Moving is displayed. Select OK
    Hey presto - all done

Now put the old SIM into the new handset and follow the above again. In step 3 it will change to "From SIM to phone"

The SIM will hold only 90 numbers, so you may have to do the process twice or more to get all your numbers to the new handset.

or alternatively your new phone may only be attempting to use the Phone memory to look for numbers, got to Names then Settings and check which memory is in use, if it's phone swicth to SIM then use the copy function to put them onto your phone then go back and switch your settings to use the phone memory

Thanks Steve but this won't work coz it will only let me copy one at a time to the sim and its taking so long I may as well of just wrote em down, but thanks again oh and a lot of the menus you told me about above aren't actually on the old phone ???

No no, it is as I stated. When you get to the bit where I said select ALL, then do so. By what you said you are selecting the ONE BY ONE option.

I just read the manual for the 3220 on the Nokia.co.uk site, and it is as I said it was.

Hi Steve all sorted, I was actually having the problem with the old phone the 7110 not the new one, the menu on the old phone was not allowing me to copy ALL but I finally got it all sorted by 'moving' instead of 'copying' the numbers so I'm off and running on the new phone now thanks again. ;D

  • When I got my new D500 on Orange, I just took my '3' mobile NEC e606 and my D500 into my local Orange Shop and they did it all for me - for nothing!! Not sure if all network's own shops do it or not. I tried putting my '3' sim into the D500 to copy/move but it wouldn't recognise it.

Maelstrom It wouldn't work because 3 operates on the 3g network, while Orange still operates on the 2g network. The 3g SIM won't be recognised by the 2g only phone. However, if your new phone was capable of being toggled to work on the 3g network and it was unlocked, then you could have copied the numbers successfully.
