I think that your Mum is going to have to cut her losses and put it down to a bad experience! If she wants to bid or buy more stuff in the future she may want to open a paypal account then there is less likelihood of this happening in the future!

I think the fact that she 'ignored it' for 8 days rather than trying to sort things out with the seller immediately means she deserves the NPB. I'd put it down to experience.

I think we have all been guilty of ignoring a situation when we dont know how to put things right. I know my mum would probably do the same. Just hope she didnt worry too much.

I think that's what happened here!

She's fine with losing the money, she was just worried that she might never be able to buy on ebay again. It's a shame that she had a bad experience so early on though. She doesn't want a paypal account as she doesn't want to put her bank details online.

Am I right in thinking that if she ever needs to pay by paypal that I can pay it through my account? I think that's possible.

Yeah that should be possible - or if she wants to bid on something she could just get you to do the bidding etc?

It is a pity that she has had a bad experience so early on but tell her most people are honest and dont let it put her off!

If she gets poor feedback she can reply to the sellers message in the feedback profile just explaning why she got bad feedback so everyone can see.
looking though the seller feedback they look quite rude anyway.

If the seller is no longer registered they wont be able to leave feedback anyway will they so it wont affect feedback in anyway! It will just be the money being lost that is the issue I think!

Looking at that item I cant see why the seller is NARU. He/she only has 3 negs, I was expecting a lot more. Three negs is hardly all that bad so I wonder whats happened. I also noticed that the first thing it says in the item description is "Paypal only auction" so you should teach your mum to read everything thoroughly ;) Having said that, if it were me I would accept a cheque or postal order if asked and send the item. The seller has been paid in the end and he/she is in the wrong for not posting the item out. I think she should just put it down to a bad ebay experience and learn from it.

The seller has now contacted my Mum via the dispute console and wrote this ...

"No postal order has been received. Please take your counterfoil to the post office and thay can check
    it/issue another.

    I await your reply"

Should my Mum do this? And should a seller who is no longer registered be asking her to and be expecting another postal order?

Your Mum should take her counterfoil from the postal order to the post office. This way they can check as to whether the postal order has been 'cashed'.

The seller is now NARU but this transaction took place before the seller become unregistered so he/she should complete this outstanding transaction.

If it turns out that the postal order hasn't been 'cashed' I definately wouldn't send the seller another given the circumstances. All the time he/she is NARU they can't do anything anyway.

If you look at the negative feedback she's been left, one of her buyers complains about postage costs. She replies that the item is being sent from another country. Either she's selling items she does not have in her possession (against ebay rules), or she's giving out false contact details.
