Which discount broker?

Sorry to be such a financial wimp, but trying to choose a route into investing a regular amount in a stocks & shares ISA is like trying to choose a pudding from the sweet trolley - you just know that someone else's desert will be so much better.
I do not have the confidence or knowledge to invest on my own, so I have been looking at discount brokers.
Some, like bestinvest, chelseafs and chartwelkl have their own fund supermarkets to choose from. Martin's article about discount brokers details fees etc. but I still don't know if I'm comparing like with like when I look at these companies.
Some seem to offer you the portfolio but leave any decisions about its future with me, while some seem to be offering more management.
Chartwell sounds good if it offers fee discounts and refunds, but will it do this if I were to choose one of their portfolios?
I believe that fund providers such as Jupiter, Invesco and Artemis are reliable for middle of the risk range investors. Are there others I should be looking for?
Any help much appreciated.

It sounds as though you want a complete hand-holding service. You won't get that from a discount broker (well, at least not on discount terms ie execution only).Some, like bestinvest, chelseafs and chartwelkl have their own fund supermarkets to choose from.
Actually Bestinvest uses both Fundsnetwork and Cofunds, as does Chartwell. CFS uses Cofunds. Hargreaves Lansdown run their own proprietary supermarket via their Vantage service (you can also access Fundsnetwork via HL - although off-hand I can't think of any reason for anyone wanting to do so when their own Vantage knocks the socks off most other offerings
).
If you invest into any funds on HL's Wealth 150, and sign up for their email alerts, they will notify you if they subsequently recommend a change to any of those funds.
Alternatively CFS has four ready made portfolios in their Easy ISA you may care to consider ;

These are fund management houses and, like many, many others, offer a range of funds encompassing all levels of risk.0
