I have one from work. It costs them £30 a month but I get some included time (no idea how much!). I just use it as a stopgap when there is no wifi hotspots nearby. My only problem with it is getting 3G signals. It often falls-back to GPRS, which isn't very fast.0 -
thank Lo, another question then. whats do you use for the wifi hotspots? as i have seen a good deal by the T mobile people, but as you rightly said, when there is no hotspot, no internet0

Acer did a recent offer which threw one of these into the deal with 20MB to start you off for free if you bought one of their laptops. I bought one and sent off for the card.
You have to sign up to a direct debit agreement before they ship it so that once you've used the 20MB you PAYG at £2 per MB
I've only used it once on holiday in Cornwall and the connection was very poor. Also it doesn't take very long to use up the MB's
Also, after that first use Vodafone tried to charge me for the data I used. I called them to point out that I should have 20MB to start me off with and they said that it hadn't registered. They promised to fix it, but the following month another bill arrived stating that they were going to take money by direct debit.
Long story short, I gave them a flea in their ear and they finally credited my account. I have 6 MB left to use, but doubt whether I will bother. I wasn't overly impressed!0 -

That's a company deal too with a company called iPASS (https://www.ipass.com). I think they take individual customers but I have no idea on the price. It allows me to connect to many (But not all!) hotspots out there, including BT's.0 -
Alot of places are giving free Vodafone 3G Data Cards.
At £2 per MB it isn't cheap. Will disabling images on webpages make alot of difference?0 -
Use above type of data card with an annual £25-ish subscription to OnSpeed and you'll get 4 to 6 times the web pages for the same number of MBs/same cost. Also when the service falls back to GPRS the web browsing speed will still seem acceptable.0
