to quote from the FAQs on the website:
THIS IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT:
The kits contain 16% Carbamide Peroxide which is equivalent to a 5.8% Hydrogen Peroxide strength. It is exactly the same gel that your Dentist will use during in-surgery whitening treatments, only the actual strength may differ.0 -
??
The kit I purchased was £35 (well 34.99) not £99?
Not sure why you think it's spam brook2jack, I only posted a discount coupon code. Also it seems that the product in your link is totally different in terms of strength.
The product you have quoted is around 60 to 75 times over the legal limit. The chap in jail sold exactly the same chemical but 103 times over the legal limit http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2232745/Barrington-Armstrong-Thorpe-jailed-16-months-selling-illegal-tooth-whitening-gel-online-100-TIMES-safe-level-cleaning-chemicals.html
I dont see that as a huge difference. Both concentrations of exactly the same chemical (if you believe what is said about a product being sold illegally ) are many, many times over the legal limit.0 -
I'm totally confused now!
The 'smile4you' website that I saw was this:
http://www.smile4u.co.uk/ingredients/
Ah yes! autofill had '4u' instead of '4you' .
Strangely enough both websites have the same before and after pictures... same logos... same phone numbers... but claim to be different products.
I wonder if the ingredients in the 'botanical' gel are actually the same as the bleaching gel?0 -
I can understand how some people may be tempted by cheap teeth whitening if they have no chance of saving the money for a proper treatment. But it just isnt worth it is it - you only get one set of teeth. And most people have acceptably white teeth, am only getting mine done because they are really very bad.. Am not expecting great results either because my teeth are quite naturally yellow. My son, who is half my age has teeth not that much better. We are all a bit too besotted I guess nowadays by the idea of gleaming white teeth,
but I think dentists can be a bit to blame, my practice seems to quite actively suggest if your teeth are a bit less than a very good colour that it would be a good idea to get it done - this implants the idea but lots of the people they must say it to perhaps cant afford it so look around for what they hope is a cheaper version of the same thing.0 -
I don't think "dentists" can be a bit to blame. I have talked more people out of whitening than have i have agreed to provide it when they have asked for it.0
-
The people to blame are those who know they are breaking the law but continue to import goods from many places, often counterfeit, containing goodness knows what and sell it to unsuspecting consumers to put inside one of the most delicate parts of the body.
Fortunately prosecutions are gathering pace and organisations such as Which have led campaigns to stop e bay and amazon etc advertising these products. Unfortunately as one website closes down another opens, or as Apollonia noticed one company can have many sites.
Some of the damage done can be irreversible and can have lifelong effects on general as well as dental health.0 -

So is Laser Teeth Whitening done in Salons, a no go area??
How come they have become so popular if they are illegal?
My friend has got laser done and they are so white.
I am so tempted...anyone actually know any ways of a affordable teeth whitening or do i just have to beat the bullet and pay the dentist??0 -
exactly it is illegal for anyone other than a dentist to assess someone as suitable for tooth whitening or to provide unless it is a dental hygienist or therapist working to a dentists prescription.
It is also illegal to sell in the uk or eu any solution for tooth whitening direct to the public that contains more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide.
Unfortunately prosecutions have only really got going in the last year or so. Most recently an internet provider of tooth whitening gels has been jailed and a large beautician chain of whiteners has been prosecuted for illegal tooth whitening.
Unfortunately the slow speed of prosecutions means many people have been harmed by illegal whiteners , one beauticians organisation said they were aware of over 400 claims against beautician whiteners.
To be safe and legal only use a dentist. If you havent seen a hygienist recently a scale and polish may just give you the improvement you want, cheaper.0 -
How come they have become so popular if they are illegal?
Let's think shall we?
Barely trained people operating with no real knowledge of what they might be harming, without much of a clue as to proper cross-infection control procedures using chemicals that are also used in the dry cleaning industry. They hardly have any insurance should something go wrong, and frequently send people out with damage to the soft tissue around the teeth.
They have no registration, no proper regulation, no-one inspects them and they have no proper complaints procedures.
Can't think why they're popular.
Oh - they're cheap.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0
