If the tooth has not been root filled then the dentist will have to investigate. A tooth knocked out 10 years ago may be very difficult to root fill which would be the first stage of treatment if the nerve is indeed dead.
Further cosmetic treatment would range from internal bleaching to veneering to crowning, but it is very difficult to get one tooth on it's own to match the rest of the teeth , it's one of the most challenging cosmetic problems, matching several teeth is much easier.
None of this cosmetic treatment will be available on the nhs and would have to be paid for privately.
As you quite rightly said lightening the other teeth will make this one much more obvious so it's important he discusses fully with his dentist his treatment options.0 -
Hey, I wrote about a product I used to use. I thought it was no linger on the market, but last week i accidentally found it. I ordered it again and whitened my teeth for the second time. I smile all the time, people must think i am an idiot or something. I am like you: Dad, I got an F, and I am still smiling. I should stop. The important thing is my teeth are incredibly white thanks to white smile.0

First impressions are often very accurate! How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

the pola night is a kit i can buy myself online so why all the fuss about going to the dentist for it??
how many syringes should i have been given i think the dentist is being tight by just giving me 2.
I was given 10 syringes and told to use half a syringe each night.
So I used the 7 syringes for 2 weeks worth of treatment and then had 3 syringes left over for topping up in the future. But they are now passed their use by date, this was a few years ago.
But I paid more than you, and as I say it was a few years ago.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. yeah i get the impression my dentist is being a bit tight when it comes to the amount of gel the dish out. My 2 front top teeth are not as white as the others and im thinking that either the gum shield is away from the teeth a bit or i need to put lots more gel on to make sure they are being treated properly. As i did not get much gels i could not afford to be generous with them. :cool:0 -
Hi guys. I got a teethwhitening kit from my dentist last year. I got some custom gums shields and syringes. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can pick up more gel for a top up or if they can reccommend a similar product. I was given 4 syringes of Optident 15% pf carbamide peroxide gel. Cheers0

Most dentists will charge around £10 for a syringe for top up treatment, providing your oral health hasn't changed.0

Thanks, been told £50 for 4 syringes.0

I have a problem with staining where the filling joins up with the tooth. I even got the dentist to do a special clean and didn't look any better.
Any ideas?0
