Hi..... I want to get one of these for my elderly mother so she can talk to my brother who works abroad. So it will be a grand telephone so could someone who is using one tell me what the webcam function is like as its the only important bit!.
    Hi Wortle,
I've had one a while and have skype on it which works fine. The webcam is very good too and is as clear as my main PC with a £30ish Trust webcam. Not used the two together though.
It's not just about the money

I bought one in Banbury today - they were not on display, but one was found for me when I asked. I'm not sure how many were left, but I did have a choice of colour, blue/white for £129. He did seem surprised when he checked the price for me!

    Hope this helps someone

I spoke to someone in my local store on Saturday, who was fully aware of the offer and he confirmed that they did not have any at that price and added that only certain stores were running the offer. What puzzelled me is that when I first saw the offer, I went to the store and they had several A150's in stock, but it scanned at £229 at the clothes desk (Don't ask - it's a long story), but these were now sold out - seems odd that they'd sell out of them at £229, however the person I spoke to was adamant that they hadn't had any stock of them for weeks. Draw you own conclusions from this .......

Dabs are doing refurbished Acer Aspire A110L One (512MB RAM and 8G SSD) netbooks reduced from £142.77 to £119.99 but they're offering a £10 off voucher for all sales over £100 so that means it should be available for £109.99.

How does that compare with the deals above?

Not good, as 8 GB of storage is quite restrictive.

It's a netbook with Linpus Lite preinstalled. As it's designed primarily for web browsing, it only needs sufficient storage for the operating system and a few essential applications. Anything else is gravy.

Personally, I'd be happy with next to no storage; I see no need to have it built-in when there's a perfectly good card reader available. The Aspire One in particular is well suited to such an arrangement: stick a SD card into the slot on the left-hand side and the system treats it as an extension of the primary storage device. Naturally, this feature is only available in Linux. ;)
