thanks for all your help. i managed to book the santa monica in calella for £430 (7 nights all inclusive), i booked it with hotels4u and was far cheaper than anywhere else.
Now just hoping the hotel and resort is ok as i decided not to read too many reviews seeing as choice was limited!

Hi, Calella is nice and I think typical old spain. We stayed at the Amaika last year I think it was May. Beach is not sandy mind and hurts your feet! We are booked for San Eloy Tossa de Mar for 4 nights in June. If anyone has been I would be interested in any feedback!0
