Are auctions really the place to bag a bargain

Okay, maybe I didn't explain clearly, fair enough.
Someone bought the townhouse at auction for £455,000.
We were told it would take £350,000ish to do it up to a good standard again.
Therefore costing the buyer £805,000. But that property would then be worth well over a million.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Thats much better thanks for clearing it up0 -
Yes, well done.
':rotfl: I love the people that go in a huff when people don't agree with them.'
its a shame you can't see constructive criticism for what it is. Nobody went off in a huff Drea. Most people are working too hard to make really decent money:eek:0 -
Thanks for your comment, but would you mind elaborating on it a bit. Its useful to see someone else's unbiased (unlike Dozy's) point of view - but it needs a little bit of substance to justify it.
If you think that auctions are pointless then that is fine and if you choose not to go then that's just dandy too. I've offered you a possible reason why that piece of land sold for more than you expected, how some properties don't benefit as well from being on with high street agents when they hold potential and I've tried to encourage you to keep looking.
I don't have an axe to grind but I did find that you looked the greater fool when you turn on someone who has given you advice which corrrelates with my experience of being a buyer and far more often an observer. As soon as you found out their living, you turn dismissive and rude and accuse people of being biased. I am sure, like me, that Drea doesn't come here to drum up their business which they couldn't advertise if they wanted to, but because they have a bit of passion about what they do.
It's offensive to that poster. You've accused them of having a hidden agenda, of ripping people off and yet still accusing the buyers of being ignorant fools. What happens in reality do you think? You're generalistic about pretty much everything so therefore conversation is pretty pointless now isn't it. You've quite happily taken up the mantle that the post on the townhouse may have been ambigous and yet I can see that you've been quite hostile further back in the thread.
You know as well as I do that people can buy very well at auction, as they can do through an estate agent. I don't see what more there can be to say if you are simply insisting that people always pay over the odds at auction. I will credit you with some intelligence and state that you are being purposely obtuse and rude as opposed to being slow on the uptake thinking that all auction properties are bargains, because at this point it's one or the other.
I must have rattled your cage slightly to feel the need to continue to name call in posts that don't concern me. Do it again and I will happily report you to abuse.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Oh, I'm sorry. You are so completely incapable of sensible discussion that is all you can refer back to?
And I've reported your post to abuse as I said I would and will continue to do.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Right, so the placard in your post above forms part of a sensible discussion does it? mmm, ok, whatever you say. Thanks for reporting me, as it makes you look very silly. Most people are working too hard to make really decent money:eek:0

You really are quite the idiot aren't you!! You don't understand the auction process then abuse the people who do. 10 out of 10 for showing yourself up to a complete and utter !!!!!! as well as just being dim.

Elkay, may I suggest you read posts correctly. You will discover that my comments are factual and not attacking anyone(unless they attack me of course).
You are typical of the spineless weasel that lurks around threads then posts nasty comments then runs off like a child. Most people are working too hard to make really decent money:eek:0 -
Does anyone remember the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail?

Don't worry, I knew you had a hidden agendaparticularly when its you that doesn't know what he's talking about, in spite of working in the auction game.I wouldn't bother, you've proven you are perfectly capable of doing it on your own.
Are those examples of you NOT attacking someone and simply being factual then?
The funny thing was, I was agreeing with you to a point. It isn't easy to get a 'bargain' at an auction. But then, auctions aren't a bargain bin like some people seem to think!
Thanks Doozer
