After some advice earlier in the week, I bought a Netgear WGR614 wireless router on ebay, its the same one that virgin send out, but even though on ebay they said it comes with a startup disk, it wasn't in the box. Someone has said I can borrow one in the next couple of days, but is there a way to set it up with out? I've got my desktop connected to the internet, but nothing on the laptop yet.

No CD is required to set up the router. Enter http://192.168.1.1 into your browser while connected to the router using an Ethernet cable to configure the wireless encryption. Download the correct manual for your version here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

After pluging in the router via the Ethernet port, just go to http://192.168.0.1 and enter in your information

Usually written on the underneath of the router as it is the username and password to enter the router setup it is asking for. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
