Potting shed v greenhouse? Which is most useful. And where is best place to get at reasonable price. I am just getting into gardening and planting various seeds and my garden shed with bench in front of window just isnt enough space!! Any suggestions for Dorset companies?

They both can do different jobs, so neither is best.

I adore my greenhouse and use it in a similar way to a potting shed. It extends your growing period and allows you to grow a wide variety of plants over the year.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Mainly for seeds and young plants but Im also likely to use it as an escape from the kids from time to time!! Can see myself lounging in there when Ive had enough hence the potting shed idea!!0

I used to have a shed that had a corrugated 'plastic' roof. With the window nearly the full length of the longer side and south facing, I found it really useful as a potting shed and a place to start off my seedlings.
I did have a small greenhouse as well though:o0 -
I have to confess I take a chair a cool drink and a magazine to the greenhouse and treat it like a conservatory that is just a bit of a walk away!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I have a small unheated greenhouse which is good to have in the summer for growing tomatoes and chilli peppers, usually about four big pots of the first and half a dozen of the chillis which my son is really in to. In the winter the GH is not very useful as I have to dash out to cover things with fleece in cold weather. In the potting shed we have two very low watt heaters so it is frost free plus a plug for a propogator. Also, it was built on to the back of the garage s there is shelter on that side.(I grow a lot of seeds). The roof is that plastic ridged material. Sorry to ramble on so - it's a weakness - just to say the PS is more useful to me all year round whereas the GH is good in summer.
If you can have heat in your GH that should be more useful to you (I can't).0 -

Or in my case a woman shed!!!!!!!!!0 -
can you not cheerfully pot and do the same things in a greenhouse that you would in a shed? I am confused as to the main advantages of a potting shed?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Thanks Jakes Gran, Im definitely thinking a potting shed will be more multi purpose, we do have a large shed already which is a bit tatty but could be insulated repaired and perhaps do the corrugated plastic roof idea and enlarge the windows, could well be cheaper and bigger!0
