Zenith Windows - Pushy Photographer!!

Today I had a visit from a Zenith Windows representative - we had some windows fitted in by Zenith years ago and get the odd phone call now touting for new business. The man that turned up today said he was a photographer and wanted to take photos of the old windows for use in their brochure. Apparently if someone sees the pictures of our windows and makes a new purchase we get £2000.

I said I wasn't interested, mainly because I just didn't feel right about having pictures of my house for all to see. Call me paranoid if you like but that's just me. We're currently having work done in the rear of the house, so even if we had said yes, I don't think it would have been possible anyway due to lack of access.

This guy then started to get really pushy, saying how he had come a long way and that I should let him take the pics. I kept saying no and he kept getting more aggressive. He then said that we originally had the windows fitted at a reduced price, on condition that Zenith would be allowed to take photos in future.

Now this was news to me. I asked him for proof of this but he couldn't supply it. He eventually stormed off but it left me wondering if they do have the right to do what they want do regarding these pictures. Do you think he was trying it on?

It's not as if our windows look brand new anyway so why take pictures of them?

I think he is trying it on ... ignore until he brings you signed proof of your contract with them.

No,I think you will find that this was just a typical sales pitch. The photos were irrelevant,it was just a hook to lure you in (the barst***s!)The next stage would have been flogging you more products ,with a "discount "cos you had the photos done-I am positive..

    Or,er..did he have any I/D?

Thanks for the replies..I was feeling very  earlier but I've calmed down now.

He had a clipboard in his hand with a list of some sort. I didn't notice any other ID - I never bothered to ask as I was never going to let him into the house anyway.

Once I got rid of him I thought I could relax but I then had to fend off a sales call from a company in India! What do you have to do to get some peace and quiet these days?

I thought Zenith went bust last year? They deserve to.
Some years ago I got frequent calls from them convinced I was a pensioner from the other side of town.
Turns out I had his old phone number.
Eventually I got sick of the calls so put on my best doddery voice and let the !!!!!!s go to the old boys house.By then he had passed on so the poor devils who bought his place must have had the reptiles turn up with tape measures.
    Sorry about that.

I done a temp telesales job for them when I left school (big mistake). They were using this showhome promotion pitch then too, as a way of getting us to sell the "discount" over the phone.

I lasted two weeks, before being sacked for turning up 20mins early for work having been out most of the day, eating a kebab in the staffroom...

You got off lightly, I thought that was at least a hanging offence or even worse

they might have kept you on.

If any salesman calls to your house..tell em its rented. Tell you just been laid off. Tell em you work for Trading Standards or tell them you are a solicitor. You will hear their bum squeak loudly.

    They will !!!!!! off.

They know how to handle objections so if you say "cant afford it" they will say "we do finance"

Once they quote a price if you hum and har, they will give it the old "can I phone my manager " trick to get you a discount. They already know how much to charge you.
I am ex salesman (biz to biz not public) if I get any tele sales calls I always say no thanks I did your job once so no offence I dont buy over the phone. I never get argued with as they know, that i know, all the tricks.

At the door I have an A4 laminated NO religion, NO sales, NO surveys poster. I point at it if they are stupid enough to ring.

Slamming door is another good one but watch they dont scratch your car as they walk off.

Staying silent and playing deaf is unerving for the little turds. just nod and look puzzled. If you see Steve Martin in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels palying !!!!!! you will get the drift.

    I've been Money Tipped!
In 2006 we had Safestyle quote for windows.

When asked our occupations, we answered truthfully. Dear heart had been in professional telesales (to companies, all respectable) since 1988 and I was currently a legal secretary having spent some time working in the county court.

The sales pitch shortened by around 2 hours.

Double Glazing Companies - live in Peak Park, not allowed to have UPVC Windows or doors :D

Gas Companies - ask if they will pay to have mains gas installed :D

    They soon give up.

We have been receiving sales calls from Zenith for years after they installed double glazed windows foer us. Nothing seems to convince them we have no more holes for them to glaze!

We too had the visit from the photographer. We told him firmly we did not want any further contact with Zenith and his parting shot was we were throwing away the £2000 Zenith wanted to give us.

I cant see pictures of old windows being any use and I bet the £2000 was money off work I wouldn`t have done by them anyway.
