Is there a prog on the go that can monitor whether the pc fans are working efficiently and whether the pc is becoming over heated or not?

I used to use a program called Motherboard Monitor which was very good.
Note that you motherboard has to support fan/temperature monitoring. The program autodetects the correct chips to use on your board in most cases.0 -
Thanks nick....but link doesn't work for me?
Edit: Never mind...I found it anyway.

Need advice again.

Asus probe installed and automatically picked up correct info about board etc so I let it use the suggested values it offered for everything.
It's telling me that the cpu fan value is 2960 and that is 'ok'...but the chipset fan and chassis fan is flashing at '0' and telling me these are below the threshhold of 600.
Does that mean the threshhold vaue should be set differently or that my fans are just not working? The fan monitor graph is just a straight dead line so I assume they're knacked?
Just want to be sure I know what I'm talking about before I phone support.Herman - MP for all!

It's more likely that the fan has not been detected properly by the software. If your fans are not working then the computer is likely to become quite warm under heavy load. Is it possible for you to open the chassis and look at the fans yourself? This would be the easiest way to see if they are working.0 -
I take it all 3 should be on all the time?
Just opened case and large fan on back of machine is not moving, nor is the smaller one on the side.
Edit: been doing a lot of video stuff lately....would that been classed as 'heavy load'? Just recently pc has been working improperly and probs have been happening installing progs, especially after pc has been on for a while.
I thought it might have been memory probs but mem is fine.
Would overheating cause many issues?Herman - MP for all!

Yes. There's not much point in having fans installed if they're not working. Whenever the PC is on, it generates heat and you want to get most of that out as quickly as possible.been doing a lot of video stuff lately....would that been classed as 'heavy load'?
If you mean video editing then yes, this works the PC very hard. It would certainly push the temperature up. Luckily your CPU fan sounds like it's working or you might have been purchasing a new processor!Just recently pc has been working improperly and probs have been happening installing progs, especially after pc has been on for a while.

Overheating can cause major issues such as locking up and damaging components. It is not always easy to diagnose because as you say, the symptoms often imply other problems with RAM, Video Cards etc.
You need to replace the fans that aren't working. They are very cheap to buy and can be got from eBay.
Remember that the fans should be working together as well, not against each other. Pull air in one side of the case and blow out the other. Don't have fans all blowing in or out of the chassis or you'll create weird air effects that can increase the temperature rather than decrease it.0
