I viewed mine on the 8th April and still waiting. We have handed our forms in and all our references are in just doing credit checks but they dont rush!0

well the finances are in place on my side. I've paid the admin fee and have the rent and deposit waiting in my bank (and the LA know this). Only reference I think they'll struggle with it my current LL

Probably a telephone reference is best for your current landlady, as someone rings her and she can deal straightaway.0

Have to say, I would wonder why someone wanted to move in so quickly, and would make me think they may not be very organised. Now neither am I, but if I was picking a tenant, I would want them to be.
hmm...I don't think I'm disorganised, I just don't like living with the people I share my student house with and the my current tenancy doesn't expire until end of June - I just don't want to live there anymore.0 -
Could you write one for your current landlady and take it round for her to sign? Obviously it would have to be truthful. I don't know whether that would suit her as I don't know her, but some people it would.0

That's a perfectly good reason. I hope it happens quickly for you.0

I've no idea where she lives unfortunately. The only address I have for her is a P.O. Box. I have however made her aware that I need the reference.0 -
Gazfocus - you are legally entitled to know the name and address of your LL. If you write to the LL at that PO box formally requesting his/her address under Section 1 of the LL&T Act 1985 the LL *has* to give you that information within 21 days of receiving your request. Do it whilst you are still a T so that you have a "real" address in case you have any problem with the return of your deposit when your contract expires.I've no idea where she lives unfortunately. Always been puzzled that new Landlords/agents don't also want a reference from the previous Landlord to the place the prospective is in now.... The current Landlord could just want the tenant out.... & not tell you why....
Cheers!
